I installed 6.0 and managed to get my library ported from 5.12 but the UI is very hard to read. It is medium gray text on a light gray background. If I set the UI style to DARK I get medium gray on a black background. This is on Debian 11 with XFCE. If I select SYSTEM STYLE I get the same as LIGHT. This probably has something to do with Qt...

I have the same problem on a MacBookPro with M1Pro chip running macOS 12.4.

There are no *.rcc files in any of the config folders (I searched from the base config folder, so all the sub folders were searched)

No, nothing strange about my win 10 64 installation and of course no other apps but Calibre are doing it. It was not doing this until I upgraded Calibre with the 6.0 release. Is this related to the QT issues noted above and if this is a possibility how do I pursue it?

Look in your app/data folder.

On lunix it is in:

/opt/calibre/resources

OK booted up my disk with my Windows 10VM. I found:

C:\Program Files\Calibre2\app\resources

I uninstalled Calibre and made sure the programfiles was empty.
Fresh install with fresh download. size 1372K dated 20220706
No RCC files exist in the config folder, any place
BTW there is also NONE in beta 5.99 installed on my other PC, but the icon is good there

IIRC, the .rcc files are only created after you choose an Icon Theme on the GUI.

Fwiw I copied the RCC file from the Beta PC (programfiles) and rplaced it on the 6.0 PC
No Joy

Also, I searched my entire User folder for *.rcc and the only one it found was the copy I transferred from the other PC (to downloads, which I share so I can cross install on my net. 6.0 was downloaded direct to this PC)

No idea, sorry. Only other thing I can think of is try changing the DPI settings in windows and see if it affects the issue.

Nope
I renamed both (added .sav)
Only Plugins was recreated next start (empty)

undid Plugins .sav change (delete plugins first)
resources was created this time, but still no joy

Put it all back
Yes, I always had Calibre shut down

Lets let it ride as nobody else seems to be griping

Not sure what I did yesterday at 10:08:26 to change the icons-any.rcc in my config folder - probably a manage authors window size change, my window sizes were very much awry after the install.
