[Closed] Issues with Version 6

The only things I can think of are resources/image, icons*.rcc and plugins. Just rename each of those one by one and you should find the culprit.

Seeked & destroyed - thanks. Dunno where it came from, it was zero length.

Curious : which icon file is being used on VL tabs for delete - the current tab shows a white cross on a red square, the others are a white cross on a grey square that go red when a mouse approaches.

Oral contraceptives could help reduce grey square numbers

they come from Qt I had them overriden, but I guess the way to override them has changed in Qt 6.

I just did a full re-install of Win10 21H1 x64 calibre v5 was trundling along nicely - then came the upgrade to v6 and...

This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: direct2d, minimal, offscreen, windows.

Rolling back to v5.44.0 everything works - v6 and BANG the above message.

What AV are you running? If it's not the one that comes with Windows, disable it and try again. if that's not a fix, try rebooting into safe mode and try Calibre 6.

I quite like them, easier to see which tab is current. The subdued white on grey, and the mouse nearby glow is perfect for me

It's apparently a new feature in Qt 6, they now use different icons for the various tab states.

I may stay on the 5.44 till I check out V6 on a different PC running Mint 20.1, also I don't see a need to upgrade to Mint 20.3 version yet.

Sorry but 'safe mode' did nothing still same message. Same thing with portable.

Sounds like QT6 isn't running / able to run on your Windows box. You are 64 bit Windows, not 32 bit (Some 64bit CPUs have 32 bit Win 10 for complicated reasons)?

Interesting idea. A debug log from running calibre 5.44 would answer that question.

On the same vein, could it be the graphics hardware? Something that Qt can't support? I don't know how to establish this one way or the other.

kvantum and qt6-ct work fine for me to theme my Qt6 apps on Arch.

Nope: That was the first thing I checked.
I also tried changing the theme, THEN BACK to default (reset)
I just uninstalled, the reinstalled WITH a fresh download
The Programfiles resources folder looks OK (attached)

Note this is my Main Machine, not the one I ran 5.99 on (that looks fine Still has the last 5.99)

Don't lose hair over this.

I renamed images.rcc and got an error at startup
