We still have public transport mask mandates in Sydney, most people comply. One of the groups I've noticed that don't, are stylishly dressed/coiffed women, there were several on the City (downtown) bound bus I took yesterday morning.

It's interesting. The agency I work for operates a vaccine clinic Tuesday through Saturday at one of our locations. We also have a team that runs several mobile clinics each week (and quite often I get to drive staff and supplies to the mobile locations). The mobile clinics tend to run in apartment buildings, shopping centers, community hubs.
We seem to get better attendance at the mobile clinics; today in just over 3 hours we had 42 clients (36 full doses, 6 children's). Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk |

My dentist's office does this. I go again in June. We answer a text that they send us in advance and answer when we are outside the building and they text back when it's OK to go up. (No parking lot, just the sidewalk in NYC.)

Voluntary masking is definitely trending upward in my own Ohio podunk. I thought it might have been just coincidence, but there's definitely more masking going on in the stores than there was a month or more ago. All ages it seems.

My niece in Chapel Hill is in quarantine this week for testing positive. She didn't say (in group texts) whether she has symptoms or not. She had it and was quite sick last September.

Well, today I took the biggest step in 2-1/2 years - I've been working from home with now occasional forays into the office in person - where masking indoors is now optional but I always masked.
Today was the retirement party of a beloved fellow employee - which I attended - which brought in other retirees that I haven't seen in years. There was so much hugging I deemed masking useless. I'm fullly boostered. This was the first indoor event I attended unmasked since 2020. All were asymptomatic. Most had had omicron. It was marvelous to see smiles again. |

Last day of class and graduation parties really bit a bunch of folks in Chapel Hill. I live in the country a bit outside of town and I did not venture into town proper that entire week.

I keep hearing about more people I know getting Covid. Just now was online chatting and heard about a couple in Tucson (they are from my home town in New Jersey).
I went to eye doctor today. Everyone was masked. More people in the waiting room than I am comfortable with and I waited half an hour. They used to space chairs more in waiting rooms, but this one, well, I went to another part of the waiting area. |

A fun long-term effect of COVID I've discovered: Hair loss. More specifically, telogen effluvium, which can be caused by any major stress (including COVID-19). Every time I brush, my hair comes out.
The good news is that it should grow back. Hopefully. Fortunately, most of the rest of the symptoms have been going away; I'm no longer hit with a wave of symptoms every few days like I did the first few months. Mostly just the occasional bout of cough now (and a nagging sore spot in my ribs from all the coughing). Last edited by ownedbycats; 05-27-2022 at 07:34 AM. |

Got boostered today. In my area, most medical places require masks. Hair cutting places also still masks. I still wear masks when I go shopping but my shopping is primarily pickup or online ordering. There is an increase in some places of mask wearing, all ages, but still mostly elderly. Part of it is that people are finally getting procedures that were delayed due to the beds being filled by Covid patients and they don't want to get sick and delayed again.

When I was out today with my wife, we stopped at a coffee shop and used their patio to enjoy a coffee. We were treated to a lecture from one woman in her mid-fifties. Evidently, us vaccinated, mask-wearing dunces are responsible for the way the COVID-19 pandemic has dragged along. If we had all simply accepted God's plan and gotten infected, the whole thing would have been over and forgotten a year ago. I made the mistake of starting to laugh at this idiocy and she went into a rant about people who can't understand when they are being offered "help" from a higher source.

There's a growing incidence of this sort of thing here too, though without the religious overtones. The sort of idiocy that makes me feel good buying 4 tickets for Jurassic World to make sure that when my vaccinated & boosted wife and I are sitting masked in the cinema's back row (no one behind us) we have an empty seat next to each of us. Expensive but worth it, imo |
