hee ! i think one of my cats may be a dog in a cat's body (that's why i call her "bast, the annoying dog-cat").

is that the same cat you have to warn visitors about ?

I've been roped into taking the landlord's brother grocery shopping after work tonight. One of the other housemates is home almost all day as his course has not started yet. I don't know if it is because I am the only female, a sucker, respectful to my elders or what.

Definetly feeling like Wendy and the Lost Boys (and I even have the Newfie!)

The mean female, not the dog-like male, yes. She likes to try to catch people out by acting cute as if she wants attention, then turns all vicious if they get close enough.

One of my cats, Morgan, is that way. Very small, really beautiful, and people just have to try and pet her. She sits there looking really sweet until they reach out to touch her, and then latches onto them like a flying meat grinder.

She's 17 years old now, and shows no sign of changing ....

My ants are back. Again. I just swept them (and the crumbs that attracted them) off my desk with a business card. I believe this didn't hurt them much, and they are welcome to pursue those crumbs from the floor level, so long as they don't crawl all over me.

I really need to stop leaving crumbs on my desk.

Cleanliness is apparently next to antlessness.

I'm nothing but a grump this week, been getting my hackles up at the least insults that people are posting. I'm tired of the US being blamed for everything that has gone wrong since Eve ate an apple. I think it is because of this newest kidney infection and the fact that they are doing another laparoscopic lithotrypsy for kidney stones again tomorrow. I feel "on edge" because of the constant background pain. I've only just in the past week or so had gotten some energy and strength back from the last surgery. It's taking longer to recover from surgeries than it used to. But I've been a mean old grump all week long, and I don't like myself behaving this way. :-(

That's okay DG. We love you no matter what mood you're in. And we understand what's putting you in that state.

I hope you start feeling better soon. Unfortunately, with every day older we get, it seems to take that much longer to bounce back from ANY adversity, especially physical. In other words, we start to lose our elasticity and we don't bounce so good any more.

Try baking yeast. Put it around the edges of your desk or where you think they may be coming from. Very natural anti ant remedy, it is lethal to them!

I don't think I want to kill them. Just get them off my desk. If I keep my desk crumb-free, they should figure out pretty quickly that it's not worth coming here.

Not necessarily. They're keep following the trails they laid down to get to the crumbs in the first place until their chemical markers are erased.

Anyone in pain from kidney stones is entitled to be grumpy in my book.

I hope yours get sorted tomorrow, and you feel a lot better afterwards.

It only took about a day last time. By sweeping them off with the crumbs, I think I cause them to make new trails back to their nest with the bits they've still got, so those ants, at least, don't end up back on my desk. At the moment, they seem much more interested in my trash bin.

DixieGal, I'm sorry you're feeling out of sorts. Just remember that anyone who wants to blame everything on one simple cause (one country, one law, one group of people) is being simple-minded themselves, and go on with your day.
