Calibre for movies?

Hi,
I've been using Calibre for several years now and I really like this program because it is well made and works very well (thanks to its creator and all those who work on it with passion).
Since I also collect a lot of movies transferred from film or CD or DVD to HD, I've been thinking for some time if it would be possible to modify Calibre to work as (or even...) a movies database.
It shouldn't be very complicated because it wouldn't have to modify or edit any files, but it would give the possibility to group movies, for example by title, author, actors, country, genre, year...
Bye and thanks,
Gianni

Theoretically, if you don't mind being limited to the author/title structure, you could use Calibre to organize anything. Though I ought to mention that I'm happy enough to use Ant Movie Catalog for that task.

Why don't you use Kodi for this? All those groupings exist by default.

Calibre is excellent for books. Plex is excellent for movies. You don't need to try and turn one into the other.

Multiple images can be stored in a single tiff, and tiffs are better for very large images (i.e 120K x 100K pixels) such as those NASA gets from Hubble and will get from Webb.

People use calibre to manage non-ebook files, e.g. STL files for 3D-printers, PES files for embroidering machines etc.
