As the Job log contains the eMail address to which I had Calibre send the eBook, I guess it's just a matter of the as-yet-non-existent plugin grabbing that eMail address and today's date from the log. Then, if I eMail the same book to someone else, the plugin would concatenate that new eMail address and today's date to the existing data in the column.
As the saying goes: "Then a miracle happens." If I could code it myself, I'd do it. ![]() Quote:

Does the calibre ebook-viewer support plugins?
I use the calibre ebook-viewer to read all my books. I have a simple plugin idea which will work in the viewer, but I don't know if it's possible.
I want to ask here first - if it's possible, I'll invest a week to learn everything, and build it for myself. Here's what it does, very simple: I often get too addicted in reading and it affects my work and life. I want to limit how much I can read in this way: when I'm in the viewer, it'll force me to take a break every 20 pages (or every 15 minutes, or every chapter) - scrolling is disabled during the break, so I can't go to next page, until the break is over. |

There used to be support for adding plugins to the calibre Viewer but it was removed quite a long time ago. I forget exactly when that was, maybe when the Viewer had a big rewrite for calibre v4.x ???

No, there is no support for viewer plugins. It's on my long term TODO list, but given the complications (viewer code is written to two different languages and runs in sandboxed isolated processes) coming up with a framework for viewer plugins is not easy.

Please SOMEBODY add a random filter view option or a "Show me at random order" button. The plugin must select a TRUE random filter to show all the books in the collection displayed in random position. This must take the same time or less vs the other view filters.

I too would be interested in a plugin to do this. I've written a Perl script that scrapes the desktop downloader logs to match downloaded files to OneBookShelf (OBS) product IDs, then scrapes the OBS product page for metadata, but it would be nice to have a plugin that does this for me.

Plugin API Device File Attributes
Is there a API method to get file attributes from a file on the device? I'm mostly interested in getting the modified date for files. Thanks.

Even just being able to retrieve a list of titles and publishers would be helpful.

Okay, I don't know much about programming.
The OneBookShelf/DriveThruRPG app stores its download data in plain text in a .dat file. I thought it might be a json with a changed file name, but apparently not. For each entry, it tracks: coverURL datePurchased downloadedDate files errorMessage hashesMap lastModified localDir localFileHash localFileName localLastModified serverFileName totalSize productId publisher ruleSystem thumbURL title Note that the metadata does not include author, probably because of nicknames, initials, and a lot of collaborations. I'm at a loss as to how to either convert the .dat to a .csv to import the relevant info, ior query the .dat. |

Save as ebook function
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid idea. Also, I use a Mac so I have no idea how this could be implemented on multiple OSes. Anyway, save as pdf is a function available via the print menu on most Macs. Could a "save as ebook" (save as epub?, Print to epub?) be implemented as a system-wide service/function?

Hello! I was wondering if there would be any interest in creating a plugin that extracts URLs from your book files? I would imagine it would work very similar if not exactly the same as the "Extract ISBN" plugin.
The background to this "request/idéa" is that I have over 900 individual books that each have a URL at the beginning of the (epub) book that I currently have to enter manually. And I can't help but wonder if a plugin similar to "Extract ISBN" would help both me and others in a similar situation. |

Scrape Plugin
I don't know much how to write code.
Is there anyone that would write a scrape plugin for RPGnet to get publisher/book title/cover/year info that could be scraped and used to rename pdf files? The website has a nice consistent way of naming stuff that would be kind of cool to have. Is there anyone that would be up to do it for n00b who doesn't know how? |
