Is anyone else having or ever heard of this issue? I just purchased the Kobo Libra H2O (from Amazon) It will not stay connected to My Mac. This doesn't happen with any of my other devices or peripherals. I tried 3 different cables with the same result. Libra ejects with Mac message "disk not ejected properly". This happens whether Calibre is open or not. I initially thought it might be a conflict issue with Kobo and Calbre, being they're not mated yet? I don't know, but it's happening with Calibre closed as well. Total buzzkill, because I really wanted to like this new reader. Any fixes or suggestions besides contacting Amazon or Rakuten/Kobo. I did a device reset, and the usual Mac crap: The SMC and PRAM. Last edited by 7thSon; 02-13-2021 at 09:06 AM. Reason: Change topic title |

Sounds like either a faulty cable or a bad usb port on either the mac or kobo

I've noticed the USB ports on my Formas can be very fussy about seating a connector properly. Have you tried "wiggling" the connector to get it to seat properly?

The micro USB seats in the Kobo port with a nice click and seems solid, but that probably doesn't mean much if the issue is internal. You can wiggle it but that seems counter-productive, those micro ports and connectors are notoriously weak and deform easily.

I have the USB2 end connected to a USB 2 to USB-C adapter and that's not the tightest fit, but this doesn't happen with any of my other peripherals. I just tried putting tape on the adapter end and the Libra stayed mounted for about 5 minutes, but that's been about the average anyway. Then as usual, it will disconnect immediately with each attempt thereafter. I'm waiting on a new braided nylon micro to USB-C cable and bypass the adapter. I bought the Libra from Amazon, I'm becoming convinced that a lot of Amazon sells us are the QC rejects, if there is such a thing as QC anymore. Then, by the time problems surface, your return window is closed and since you purchased from a "seller" and not direct, you're S.O.L. I'll have to try GetSatisfaction through Kobo. I digress, sorry. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, and yeah the culprit is probably the Kobo port, because this is an isolated thing. Thanks again guys. |

Contact Amazon and get it replaced. Amazon is good about replacing things.

Yeah, the process is underway. Trying to decide between getting another one, but this time order from Rakuten/Kobo or just fork over the extra 75 bucks for an Oasis.

I like that Libra, I'm probably leaning toward trying again.

Reviewers claim better speed and image rendering, along with superior lighting (obviously with 8 more LEDs) on the Oasis. Kobos have better, mote intuitive features, for sure. Kindles sorely lack a more user-friendly ecosystem. |
