My Calibre Usage...

I am a privacy researcher.

My method involves a substantial amount of reading other's resaerch, which comes in the form of books, papers, survey and news articles.

All of these sources are organized into individaul type categories but all of the files are PDFs which allows seraches across the entire archive, no matter the orginal type of source.

Books, digital books that I purchase, present a unique problem which Calibre has mostly sorted out in a two step process that aslo involves using GhostScript from my Apple Mac's Terminal.

For the last several years I would use Calibre to convert .epub, mobi or .djvu to a PDF file. Unfortunately, in that process a perfectly readable PDF was not able to be searched. I would then run the PDf through GhostScript, finalizing the process and returning a well formatted PDF (Calibre) and searchable (GhostScript).

The Calibre version 5.4.2 had a happy twist, a single step process instead of two. That version of Calibre produced both a readable and searchable PDF but version 5.6.0 hsa created anew problem and I am certain why.

I backed down to the previous version and I am asking about the problem in the thread Conversion.

Thank you for a great piece of software.
