Thank you for the picture - it shows the quality of Boox devices.
Yes that makes sense. I use the Onyx primarily for reading text. If the black and white contrast is poor, that explains why plain text contrast is not as good as it is on say a Kindle 2. Good enough, but not as dark.

Speaking of Kindle, Kobo has better dithering then Kindle.

But you can change it - eg. to really black.
In this case, the grey levels became darker, but light makes "white" whiter - really white/black.

Remarkable 2 fixed the grayscale, onyx didn't. Hope they fix it because a lot of people read mangas..
And again:
this picture shows the Note Air unlighted - therefore it is a bad or manipulative comparison.
When the light on the Note Air is switched on, Remarkeble stinks a lot.
Maybe goodereader has better Remarkable conditions in the shop that something like this is necessary? Or they are too stupid to turn on the light - both speak against such investigations and I myself dont trust them.

Yes, there is an extra button for this in the task bar.
And the brightness can be regulated with the light intensity so that "white" is really white and "black" is really black.

How is manipulative? Contrast is the most important thing on ereaders..
If you want to read with led lights in your eyes buy an ipad..

It doesn't work that way read post 13.
The software doesn't render shades of gray right..
Compare the original image to onyx and kobo.
Also the onyx in this picture is adjusted to +60% contrast and even then it can't
match kobo's contrast...

How often should I say it: Kobo doesn't have a Wacom Layer - try to write handwritten comments on a Kobo.
Remarkable doesn't have a light layer, so it's best to use it as a tray in the dark.
But both work with Boyue Likebook and Onyx Boox devices.
If you don't want to do anything other than read, use a Kindle or a Kobo - both devices are too stupid for me.

Onyx should fix their software and release a cheap 10'' ereder without all these stupid layers..
What is the point of onyx note air when you have onyx note 2 and 3? They are the same devices..

I just posted an image of remarkable 1 vs onyx note 1 both having the same layers but remarkable had better contrast...

Absolutely wrong.. You can only see light reflected from the Eink Layer.

And then I asked you to show me a certain text on the Remarkable page, which you could not do.
Conclusion, it is too stupid for me to deal with you.

Each additional layer reduces the contrast, which can be adjusted with Boox devices.
But I think Boox devices might be too complicated for you.
I have a Nova and a Nova Pro. The first does not have wacom layer. I expected it to have better contrast than the Nova Pro, but it is exactly the same. This surprised me. The wacom layer makes no difference to contrast.
