Its funny you mention this. I bought a new Oasis on Prime day to replace my original 2017 Oasis. Back in 2017 I complained about the battery. The battery on this new one is significantly better. I charged it full the day it arrived and I am still at 60% battery with at least some reading each day.

As for overnight drain...that really shouldn't happen at all unless it is indexing as others have said. Or stuck trying to download a book? You could try turing off wifi for a night and see what happens.

EDIT: Just noticed your statement above about turning off wifi.

I have noticed a difference with Oasis and Paperwhite battery, Oasis being worse of course, but I have not tested it to see if it drains any overnight. I will try to take a look. If I read it every day for a few days, I do have to charge it up a bit.

So I did my last test last night:
After a factory restore, I logged into my Amazon account and did not download any books onto my Oasis. I turned wifi off and put the device to sleep at midnight - battery was on 17%
Turned it on again at 8:20 this morning and the battery was on 13%
So, dropped 4% in about 8 hours with no books loaded and wifi off

I'm going to contact Amazon now and see if they can exchange my unit

So, 4% battery usage overnight with wifi off and no books needing to be indexed. Do the other Oasis users experience this?
Frankly the Kindle battery meters are not that accurate. -5% from sheer temperature changes with no charge level change at all is quite possible. It can go up on its own too.

Yes it may be normal for some of the devices to do, mine sometimes loses a little when sleeping. I have never calculated it that closely.

True, I understand that. But I tested it during the day when I am at work and it loses anything from 4 - 8% during this time whilst on sleep, wifi off and no books downloaded

I called Amazon and they are sending me a replacement unit. Hopefully, the new one behaves - holding thumbs

My kindles have always behaved better battery wise once I owned them for a while. Meaning having charged them a few times.
I think my Oasis sometimes goes down 4 percent overnight, sometimes 1. Who knows. I have a lot of collections and maybe it does backround stuff sometimes.
But I can have it sitting for days, reading on another kindle, and it doesn't go down much at all. Maybe a couple of % in days. I don't really pay that close attention though, it charges so very fast to top it off when I think about it.

Hopefully you'll be more happy with the replacement.

Ok, so I got my replacement Oasis from Amazon. I've been using it for almost 2 days now with about 2 or 3 hours of reading and the battery is on 92% Waaaaaay better!! The previous one would have been almost flat by now.
Now I can really enjoy my new Oasis - thank you Amazon

This is probably only the 3rd time I ever had to contact Amazon with a query - always had brilliant service from them

Now I'm loving the Oasis - was definitely a super choice
