Well, thank you!

I did as you said, I forgot to copy the error but it seemed to me it was related to the firmware I had downloaded, the zip file. So I downloaded it again and put the new one at the src folder. Run the batch file and there you go, I got the tgz file at the out folder.

All went well

I don't know if this is even possible, but it would be great if there was a patch that enabled the "My Words" feature on Kobos to display the dictionary entry for those words, instead of the bare list it currently does.

MyWords is supposed to display the meaning of the word when you tap on it. That is broken with the recent firmware version. But, if you want this function, you should be pushing Kobo to finish it and officially support it.

Thanks, will do - do they have a support email that we can submit these requests through rather than having to endure their highly trained "No" ("no I don't understand", "no we don't offer that", "no I can't escalate your request", "no that will not change") ninjas on the chat function?

Use the feedback button and then "General Feedback". The options are terrible, but, I'm told that problems/suggestions reported against the ereader option will get the right people.

Thanks again, I'll give it a try. This sounds like the sort of feature request that Insiders would be ideal for, shame they don't allow it there.

I asked this a year ago, when the progress bar was a new addition to the firmware, and there didn't seem to be any interest in working on a patch for this, BUT...

Is it possible to adjust anything to do with the progress bar? It appears that in the last year Kobo has expanded the bar to span the entire width of the screen, which I like, but I would LOVE to be able to move the bar to the very bottom of the screen. The white space gap just looks awkward to me. It would also be amazing to be able to change the thickness and color of the line.

So, wondering if these things can possibly be adjusted:
1) Progress bar vertical position. Moving it 12 pixels down would have it rest at the bottom of the screen.
2) Line thickness of "read" and "unread" bars.
3) Color of "read" and "unread" bars.

Adjusting these things could really refine the look of the progress bar, making it appear more sleek and less "clunky" (to my eyes). I have attached screenshots of various mockups to fit my Clara screen, and I when I view them on my device, I feel these would be amazing upgrades to the look of the progress bar.

If it's at all possible to tweak these things through a patch, let me know. And if no one is wanting to work on it, I would even consider getting into coding, JUST to figure this out!

Thank you to anyone who has any input regarding the feasibility of this.

I'm really missing this feature, too, Uncle Robin! I'm going to contact Kobo about it, as it's something I use a lot for educational purposes. I look at my list of recently encountered difficult words and quiz myself, and without being able to access the definitions now, this is a real step down from previous versions. Hopefully Kobo just made a mistake, and isn't planning to phase My Words out completely.

I did report the problems with MyWords to Kobo. It should be fixed in the next release. But, please still report the problem. Especially if you want this promoted to an official feature.

That's theoretically possible. I'll have to look into where the bar is drawn when I get a chance.

I cannot find any reference to this specific progress bar in the nickel CSS, hence no nickel.yaml patch.

The progress bars I did find details for in nickel appear elsewhere in the GUI, e.g. the in-book kepub chapters barchart and the Activity>Reading Stats page.

ETA: There is one long shot I can try. More later.

ETA2: No, I'm afraid that didn't work.
