It means its closes down. So it is not present in taskmanager and if I try to start it in cmd it still gives me the error:
createDIB: CreateDIBSection failed (3840x2076, format: 6)
I think it is my database that could be the problem. Is there a way of validating it. I have put many hours in it :|

Are you using the 32 bit version of calibre?

Open a cmd window and start calibre in debug:

Code:
calibre-debug -g
post all the results from the cmd window.

I used to use the 64bit version, but now it is the 32bit version.
I have even tried with the portable version with the same result.

Uninstall the 32 bit then download and install the 64 bit version.

I'd also suggest moving his calibre preferences to a new location (or renaming the calibre directories before the install just to eliminate a configuration/plugin caused error. This should include the 3 calibre directories in AppData\Local and the calibre directory in AppData/Roaming.

And it would be handy if @Evildon would manage to post the calibre-debug -g output.

Calibre not starting after update

Hi, my calibre is also not starting after update to 5.3.0.
No window, no process. I tried 64 and 32 bit versions, and restarted my PC once.

The error message says "ImportError: DLL load failed while importing html: %1 is not a valid Win32-application."

What's the reason?

Uninstall, delete C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2
(or wherever you chose to install calibre). Then re-install. And
dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings.
