Even if it was a version available for 5.xx yet, you can't get it through the plugin updater. Google Apprentice Alf and bookmark it and check back every so often; from what I've seen they're working on updating it. Until then, see the first post and use 4.23 portable. |

So it is a work in progress and it does sort of work.

Do you have any insight on whether it works on Adobe DRMd PDFs?

So far, for me, it does not work on any Adobe DRMed files. Hence, my 5.3 main install and 4.23 portable (modified for a portable 64 bit install) install. My 5.3 install has a library pointed at the portable library so copy or copy/delete from there to my intake library works.

The main thing I find annoying about the portable method is that you can't run them simultaneously. (Though that would cause issues if you shared a library between them.)

SQLite is a great product but it is oriented towards single user systems which is pretty obvious from a write locking the entire database.

I think Oracle Berkeley is relatively compatible with SQLite, but that's probably one of those memory/space hogs you mentioned. And it's bloody Oracle.

I bought a book from Amazon yesterday, wondering whether I'd have a problem or not, but it was fine. So today I bought another, but I couldn't convert it because of DRM. I don't understand why. Unfortunately both books are only available on Amazon, otherwise I would have bought them elsewhere. If I understand the thread, I'll have to go back to the 4.23 version of Calibre - with no enthusiasm whatever. My present version is the portable 5.3 version and the most recent version of the usual plugins. |

Could've been different formats, or perhaps Kindle software went and updated itself (the few times I've used it, I had trouble with it trying to update even though I told it specifically not to update). Last edited by ownedbycats; 10-19-2020 at 01:00 PM.
