The thing I don't like with Kindle's three book display is that the larger cover is that if you side load, you get the currently added eBook and not the one you are reading.

The new series feature makes the need to pin collections not at all important. The collections I have left since I dropped the series based collections is small enough that I can easily scroll them no problem.

Of course, if you have many series, being able to pin a tile could still be a help.

There was no series feature like there is in 4.20 and 4.21. And given the new series feature, we don't need series based collections. So there wouldn't be any way to pin a series.

They aren't that much larger, but you can get larger covers on the home screen by enabling either "Increase home screen cover size" or "Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen" in nickel.yaml in the patches.

They way I look at it, the old home screen is not worth missing out on the fixes and new features.

To me the Kobo home screen is cleaner and simpler. The text of the reading lists on the Kindle looks cluttered to me, though I do see that a reading list might be nice for some users though. What shows on the bottom of the home screen if you dismiss the store recommendations? Last edited by ZodWallop; 06-10-2020 at 12:45 PM. |

Edit: Here's a screenshot of the home screen with the third row removed and enlarged covers. Last edited by Ripplinger; 06-10-2020 at 04:48 AM. Reason: Add screenshot

In general, I just preferred the reflowable, customizable nature of the tiles to the more static home screen we have now.
