That’s fine. Of course people have to look at prices in their own market. It doesn’t obviate my argument that you can’t condemn a device for its software when said software is adequate to most needs, without looking at price, hardware, and ancillary pros and cons. Value is the sum of a lot of considerations. You shouldn’t just say, “The software’s poor” without evaluating a device as a whole.

If the software itself is lacking in comparison with other software, it is fair, just and proper to say so. Mind you, I struggled with the decision of buying a Kindle precisely for it's software features (or lack thereof) for library management. And the reading experience on a Kindle is not better than (say) Kobo, Nook or Boyue, all of which I've owned and used; in fact, from my experience, Kindle is slightly better than Nook merely for reading, and below par when compared with Kobo or Boyue. And no, I don't live in the U.S.A. and I daresay I can readily explain the challenges of buying and using an overseas support-base e-reader; as all of my e-readers have been and will be, thank you very much. Kindly yours, [INCANUS]

When I bought my H2O, I did so for two reasons. I wanted the larger Carta screen and I liked the features of the Kobo software. Plus when I bought it, I bought from Chapters so I paid less for it due to the exchange rate.

Also, Nook now supports series. It's a shame that there aren't patchers working on the Nook.

What other features does the current firmware have? Does it support collections or some sort of eBook management?

Well, my actual words were "...from a marketing and sales perspective..." which means BOTH how they are advertised/marketed AND how many have been sold. You homed in on the word "marketing" and totally ignored the word "sales" which was right there in the same sentence, probably only a half inch away on your computer screen. You were intentionally distorting my intent, by taking things out of context.

It is still missing things like being able to add custom fonts.

I believe that the current version of the standalone kepubify utility can set the series info for side loaded content without calibre.

I do wish someone would handle sideloading series and shelves data on the Nook. But then, I know nothing about coding and the amount of work involved, and if wishes were fishes... Last edited by ZodWallop; 04-07-2020 at 08:38 PM. |
