8" screen, also without buttons. (but in this way it would no longer be a PW)
![]() Waiting for colours ![]() But more seriously I think that the next enhancement will be smart light like Oasis3 |

Regarding warm lighting, frontlighting took over 6 years and 2 gens of basic kindle (3 if you count the one that was announced at the same event as the paperwhite) to filter down to the basic kindle, so perhaps not.
EDIT: This doesn't count kindle generations that didn't have a basic model (the 6th and 9th) |

Variable wake time before unit sleeps as offered on Kobo readers and the antique Ectaco Jetbook Lite. When using a Kindle reader with a cookbook recipe in the kitchen it would be nice if the sleep function could be disabled or wake time extended to an hour or so before auto sleep. Same for use in the shop with how-to instructions.

In the mean time, you can use the search bar shortcut ~ds https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kin..._Bar_Shortcuts to disable sleep. Unfortunately, unless your kindle is jailbroken, you need to restart the kindle to re-enable sleep. If jailbroken, there is a KUAL extension to disable and re-enable sleep. |

I'd like to see an updated Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Dx. As it is, those of us who can't use touchscreens end up using older versions.

Could also enable use of a Bluetooth keyboard with any of the current Bluetooth enabled Kindle readers. Can the current Kindle reader Bluetooth implementation be used for anything but playing audible books?

Some people in the Developers corner have been working on that. They have had some success using presentation remotes to turn pages. I think they have had better luck using USB OTG with keyboards than bluetooth keyboards.

Personal photos for my screen saver. I can always use my oasis when I want buttons, but I want a custom lock screen

I don't care what nonsense you do with new Kindles as long as you keep making the Paperwhite for people who just want to read books.
Buttons make as much sense as a hand crank to start my car. Oh, and I want the PW5 to have USB-c. |

No you really don't want USB-C. You can end up buying a cable that's not up to spec and destroy your computer and/or device. A Reader has no need for USB-C.

I want the bezels to be narrower.
I am using a Voyage not for it's bells and whistles but because it fits in a smaller pocket. So make it a smaller device without a smaller screen. I don't care about thickness, I'm willing to trade thinness in to make it narrower and shorter. |

The bezels on the current Paperwhite are already only ½" wide. Any more narrow would be too narrow IMO.

I guess I'm used to my paperwhites where it's on the bottom. I wouldn't mind the side either, it's the top that drives me bonkers. I always keep missing it with my Fire, or adjusting the volume instead, I hate when those buttons are in the same area.

I would love to have rapid charge on my Kindle like my phone and laptop. I don't use the earphones once a week so it doesn't matter and my watch gets charged every night and never needs charging away from home. I have a number of USB C chargers and cables from a variety of sources and they all work fine. Some are charging cables and some are charging/data cables. I do wish they were conspicuously marked as to which is which. Right now I have a drawer of USB micro chargers and cables leftover from outdated devices and for my Kindles. Please explain why a phone, a laptop, and earphones can use USB C but an ereader couldn't. Last edited by patrickt; 04-07-2020 at 10:48 AM. |
