Sidebar: I err, fail to see how an update would affect custom dictionaries & fonts?
It certainly doesn't over here? |

I think Sidebar might be talking about a sync.

A sync doesn't actually break my custom dictionaries, either. (It complains about it in system logs that no one will probably ever read, but it's harmless).

An update will break a custom dictionary if it has replaced a default one. At least it did on my Libra. If the dictionary is installed in addition to, not instead of, a default dictionary, then possibly nothing will happen to it (no idea, myself).

@Sirtel: Ah, yes, that does make sense, thanks. Which leaves me with the obvious question: why, then, would anybody do it that way?

Well, I did it this way because it seemed simpler. And I don't update my Libra very often. Also I have to re-install the patches and custom screensavers anyway after updating, so re-installing the dictionary is not all that much bother.

You can setup the patches so when you install the patches, whatever dictionaries you want will also be installed. I have the patches set to install the better English hyphenation dictionary when I install the patches.

Sunlite asked about updating the dictionaries, if I correctly understood ...

So maybe I'm dumb, but what exactly is the distinction between
Custom collection/author header title font and Increase headlines font in nickel.yaml? They sound similar, and the descriptions both link to the same post, https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...9&postcount=42 Do they conflict? *edit* The reason I ask is because on my Libra, I can't get the headlines to change size. I've now tested with both off, both on, and only "Increase headlines font" on. "BOOKS", "AUTHORS" and "COLLECTIONS" at the top never change size. With "Custom collection/author header title font" on, if I select an author or collection, their name will be larger at the top, but if I go back, again "BOOKS" "AUTHORS" and "COLLECTIONS" are the normal size. I don't know what the problem is, if there's some conflict with another patch I enabled, or what, but here's my current kobopatch.yaml overrides (with those two both set to 'no', as that's what I was just testing): Code:
src/nickel.yaml: Show all games: yes Reduce top/bottom page spacer: yes Custom synopsis details line spacing: yes Increase Book Details synopsis area: yes Increase library cover size: yes Custom collection/author header title font: no Reduce new header/footer height: yes Increase headlines font: no New home screen subtitle custom font: yes Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen: yes src/libadobe.so.yaml: src/libnickel.so.1.0.0.yaml: Always show confirmation dialog before upgrading: yes Allow USB storage even when device locked: yes Remove recommendations (row1col2) from home screen: yes Only show stats SmartLink: yes Increase TOC level indentation and fix extra indentation bug: yes Don't uppercase header/footer text: yes Enable advanced settings for all fonts: yes FeatureSettings - BookSpecificStats: yes DeveloperSettings - AutoUsbGadget: yes PowerSettings - UnlockEnabled: yes Set KePub hyphenation: yes Don't grab exclusive access to event0: yes src/librmsdk.so.1.0.0.yaml: 1: Both patches on. "BOOKS" "AUTHORS" COLLECTIONS" normal size. 2: Both patches on, went into "Currently Reading' collection, you can see header is larger. 3: "headlines" on and "collection/author" off. "BOOKS" "AUTHORS" COLLECTIONS" normal size. 4: Both patches off. "BOOKS" "AUTHORS" COLLECTIONS" normal size. Didn't take photo of "collection" on and "headlines" off, but it was as expected. Basically, "collection/author" works, even if "headlines" is on. On the other hand, "headlines" never works on my Libra, regardless of "collection/author" setting. My guess is either something is borked, or there's an unexpected conflict with one of my other patches. I honestly don't have the time to work on it it further tonight (and will be away from home the next few days), but if someone hasn't looked into it by the time I get back I can do some more troubleshooting (like turning off all other patches while testing to isolate potential problem, etc). Both patches were written a long time ago by oren64 who hasn't been seen around here lately. Custom collection/author header title font was updated recently to work on fw 4.16 onwards. Increase headlines font has not been updated recently. I've never used it so I don't know what it does or did. In the absence of anyone enlightening us, stick with the former ![]() |

That did it, thanks! I guess it was just never updated to support the Libra's font size. It should be added into the next release.
(for those confused, until it's fixed, add the 3 highlighted lines into the shown place inside src/nickel.yaml) Last edited by FrozenTrout; 12-22-2019 at 09:02 PM. |
