Invoice had a new shipping date (I don't remember how far away the date was, but it wasn't soon) for them, got notices of delays, several new shipping dates. This went on for at least 4 months. Seller sent me a message, after a month or so, basically asking, "are you sure that you really want these?" Yes, I did, I told them. I think that it was about a month afterward that I finally got them!

My theory: it was going to cost more to ship them than what they cost. But the gaskets were only $3 or $4 at the most! Why just ship them, lose a dollar or two, and be done with it!

I'm glad that there is another toilet in the house.

I probably would have cancelled the order after the first delay and just gone to a Big Box retailer like Lowes, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware to get the parts. I wouldn't want to have a broken toilet for 4+ months. You probably would have gotten those items shipped from the Big Box for a few dollars more.

There are definitely a lot of subpar sellers on Amazon. I imagine Amazon tries to weed them out over time, but maybe not. It probably takes a lot of complaints before they begin the process of terminating any association with them. I bet some of those subpar sellers are simply guilty of having no scruples. Others might just get overwhelmed by the number of orders they receive and don’t have the resources and/or stock to fill them. And any other of numerous reasons can cause them to be bad vendors even if they are trying to be good vendors. I try to only buy from 3rd party sellers if Amazon is going to deliver the item. I trust Amazon to know what they have in stock and to get it to me in a timely fashion and to make it right if the item isn’t good. Amazon treats the 3rd party goods that they stock in their warehouses like it was their own products, so you have a better chance of getting an acceptable resolution if their is a problem.

Occasionally Amazon, or one of the 3rd party sellers, makes a mistake in my favor, though not very often. I ordered a 20-lb size cat litter tub for $11. That is fairly cheap especially since it had free 2-day shipping. They sent me two by mistake! So $11 for 40 pounds of cat litter. Pretty good deal. My cats are both full of kitty poop, so it will be put to good use!

My tale of two wheelbarrows continues. Only one has been delivered as expected . I did make a donation to a toy collection with a child's wheelbarrow after all. It's a little late for the phantom wheelbarrow to materialize in time for Christmas, But I found one that would do in a pinch and added a child's snow shovel to match. Just like the one I got my grandson.

Last year I ordered a 12 pack of 96 count generic Imodium anti-diarrhea tablets. I have IBS and need to take a lot of it, and the government forced retailers to stop carrying all but small packs. (I used to get 400 tablets from Costco really cheap.) This was right after that nonsense had happened, and I was trying to stock up while I could.

The third party seller shipped it to me twice, from two different warehouses. I still haven't used it all.

I hear you. Holidays in America are little more than retail sales events now a days. A friend of mine calls Memorial Day, a day we should be remembering fallen service members, Mattress Sale Day because of all the bleeping retail ads. Christmas of course is the worst when it comes to retail sales emphasis. And thanks to Google, Facebook, and others who routinely mine our personal data and sell it to other companies, we get inundated with directed ads.

Companies I haven't bought from in years have been sending me emails lately hoping I will do my Christmas shopping with them. Obviously they never throw out an address no matter how long ago.....

If you're serious, I can make a few arguments against it, but for the record, I impulse-bought a cheap 65" set on Thanksgiving, myself.
On the other hand, recovering alcoholics often have other recovering alcoholics as sponsors for support, so maybe I'm the right person.
