They could be called icons to different them from the tiles of the older UI.

thanks. I'm looking forward to it. I've wanted one for a while, if for no other reason than to compare experiences between device makers and enjoy the bit of freedom that Kobo gives you over Kindle.

I’ve only ever owned Kobo devices, never a kindle so I can’t compare but I loved the Glo HD which I owned for a short time, as well as the Kobo Mini and now the Clara. All fantastic in my opinion. ☺️
