Bookmarks aren't working right

I'm reading an epub and whenever I bookmark a page and go back to it, the bookmark is NOT the correct page. It keeps booting me to the same page I bookmarked once before when I click on it. Am I doing something wrong?

Now it's just constantly opening on random pages and I keep losing my spot. This is ridiculous.

so is expecting a magical solution without telling us what device you are using, how you got the book onto the device....

I'm using Windows 10. The book is from a humble bundle I recently purchased. I've noticed that it saves bookmarks fine with a comic book I also got from the same place but this particular book doesn't save my place at all.

so windows 10, what is the reader app? calibre viewer?
in my own experience some humble bundle books are a bit rough and ready, code wise. e.g. may have been coded as one big file rather than neatly split into chapters
what's the title ?

NB you can't post the whole book here because of copyright but there are ways of posting a sample - bit of a hassle though.

can u try that book in a different app. the edge browser may still open epub on request, or a freeinstall of Adobe Digital Editions will give you another option.
if the book bookmarking fails in multiple apps then its a bad book, if it works in all but one app, then its more likely to be an app issue

It's in Calibre Viewer, I tried another app and the bookmarking worked fine. The book is Bakemonogatari from the most recent book bundle

The book is probably poorly laid out. A viewer bookmark can only land on a section break (file). If the book is broken into Chapter files, it should land at the Top Of File. Some books have 'Anchors' that are used by Links within the book (eg TOC). I don't believe the viewer tries to find the closest Anchor (boy would that be some weird code)
