I received yesterday night my Libra, First impression : I really like it !
It is my first e-reader and I had some apprehension about the asymmetric design.
The Libra is very light and I figured out that you can even hold it both side without rotating it each time.
I am very happy of my purchase and now I need to buy a cover in order to take it with me when I travel.

These are nice comparison pictures. Thanks! To my eyes the Oasis 3 has a little better contrast, but it should at the price difference. I'm not in the market for either, but it's always nice to see what's out there.

BTW, I had issues with the USB cable that came with my Libra. It was eager to disconnect at any moment, when I so much as breathed on it. Now I use the Oasis cable and no issues so far. (But I've had bad cords from Amazon too, so it's not only a Kobo issue).

@Sirtel: Did they go with the quirky reversible USB plug like on the Forma?

No, they've all had ordinary USB plugs.

No, but they did flip it upside down from my H2Ov2. Now the long edge of the plug is on top. Habit has me trying to put it in wrong when I connect.

Is this your first Kobo? If not, how does the screen compare to earlier versions you've used?

Is it much more comfortable to hold?

Not the user you're talking to, but I find it more comfortable to hold than my Aura H2O. The Libra is a bit lighter and with the handle on the side it feels very stable in your hand, regardless of whether you like the buttons or not.

The fonts on the Oasis are very slightly darker/bolder, but on the Libra very slightly sharper (the difference between flush and recessed screens, I guess. The Libra screen is capacitive too, not IR).

With the frontlight all the way up in a dark room, I was in for a shock. My Libra looked GREEN. All the way green. It's nowhere to be seen in normal or even dim light, only in the dark. Still, it doesn't really bother me. But it's the first time I've seen a green screen on an eink reader.

As to the warm light, cranked all the way up it's pretty identical orange on both. I didn't manage to capture it in a photo, though. It looks much yellower on photos than it does in real life. I included one photo with the warm light up, but it should be taken into account that it looks much more orange to the naked eye.

The Libra is on the left, the Oasis on the right. The first photo is with the lights off, the second and third with the light maxed out (warmth off), the fourth with the light about halfway up (warmth off), the fifth with both light and warmth maxed out.
I love my Libra, but am I the only one who feels the Kindle screens are quieter? What I mean is that all Kobo screens look a bit flickery/grainy to me (not the text itself, but the white spaces). The white on the Kindle screens look more smooth (for lack of a better word).

I still have a Voyage, but only use my Libra to read because I love that it doesn't have a flush screen. But every time I compare the Libra to my Voyage, the Voyage screen is easier on my eyes, it looks calmer(?). The Libra screen looks computer-like, does that make sense? But only in the dark btw. Am I that oversensitive to 'flickering' or do more people have this?

I don't like the cold design of the Oasis, but I do love the screen.

Screen or overall niceness of the options and how the device looks... what's more important...

I have the same experience. Fortunately I don't read my Libra in the dark, most of the time.

My Kobo Aura H2O is superior screen to the PW3 or PW4 with no light on. Less difference with front light on. Better than any other ereader I've seen.
I suspect capacitive touch reduces ambient brightness compared to IR as it needs additional layer(s) and transparent conductive material.
My Kobo Touch C is the worst screen of any ereader I've ever seen, tested or had (Sony PRS350, Sony T1, original Sony in a shop, Nook Simple Touch, Original Kindle Keyboard, Kindle w/o touch or QWERTY, DXG, Touch, PW2, PW3, PW4, Iriver Story Cover) due to ghosting, though 4.17 and 4.18 are less ghosting than when I got it earlier this year.

@SusanReads: That's one of the first thing I noticed on the Forma (not at all on the H2O, FWIW), and then I realized... I actually quite like it. It suits a page of text pretty damn well .

(EDIT: Err, speaking of the "grainy/noisy" aspect of large flat color regions in particular).

@Gio.Bru: See this thread.

With a rather large caveat that you'll probably want to wait a few weeks for KOReader's 2019.10 release, as 2019.09 does *NOT* support the Libra.

(Current nightlies do, but that's another can of worms).

@NiLuJe: thank you for answering...
I read the thread and tried and tried again, but I haven't solved anything.
I will observe your advice. I will wait for version 2019.10.
Thanks a lot.
