Put it inside the genesis function of your plugin (i.e. wherever your plugin is initialized)

Hello!

I'm new to the forum. Joined because I am after exactly the same thing as you, the ability to sort Calibre by most recently opened title. This would be an extremely useful function! It would be helpful if it was integrated into a new version of Calibre.

However I am not able to code and do not know how to implement your plugin solution. I had a search on the Calibre plugins and couldn't find one for sort by last read/last opened.

Can you point me to the plugin file please and guide me on how to add it to Calibre?

Thank you!

The e-book viewer has the last few Recently Opened (folder icon) books.
The viewer can be launched from the Command line or start menu.
To do what you want from the GUI, would require a custom column and some method of logging what had been viewed (I don't remember such a PI existing)

Thanks for your help theducks. That is helpful but I was ideally looking for something that would sort all Calibre titles in the library by last opened/last read regardless of format, for which eater has a brilliant solution!

I am intentionally going to put some extra keywords in my post so that others who are looking to do this will find this thread more easily. I found it but only after quite a lot of searching, so hope some extra keywords help in the search engines. Here goes:

"Sort Calibre by last opened" "Sort Calibre last opened"
"Sort Calibre by last read" "Sort Calibre last read"

I hope many will find this extremely helpful plugin!

Now how do I give you Karma points?

Thank you!

Hooray, I'm glad you like it! I just submitted it for inclusion in the official Index of Plugins so hopefully that will make it easier for future seekers to find.
