It would be nice if there was a way to prevent Marvin from marking a book as Opened if the reader just had a look at the cover page, or read the summary and then decided to read that particular book at a later date. The way Marvin handles this at the moment rather 'spoils' the Home screen (coffee table as Kris described it - with the Library being the bookshelves). It also renders much less useful, the functionality available through the small menu at the bottom of the library view - not sure what to call it. This displays Last Read which of course now includes all books which have been opened however briefly and, also Opened, in the same place (not sure if there is an unintended overlap in usage between Last Read and Opened. |

You can manually reset the "Opened" flag, Wyndham, by left-swiping a book and selecting "Flag as New".

Not sure if that would resolve the other concerns you mention, though, particularly the one related to the Home screen; which is why I have now posted this pretty frequent wish to GitHub: https://github.com/kguil/Marvin-Roadmap/issues/150 |

Marvin does not behave like that for me.

Setting through actions to new simply adds the 'new' red flag to the books thumbnail. The book remains in the last read list, and also in the opened collection. This really feels like a bug to me. (I can't see which version I am using, but it is the latest update) |

Yes, I agree it's a bug. Unfortunately, Kris closed the GitHub issue without resolving it (it only partly overlaps with #150):

https://github.com/kguil/Marvin-Roadmap/issues/152 That has happened to a couple of issues I reported to GitHub, too. We can only hope Kris will reconsider later on. I'm keeping a plain-text file where I'm manually tracking all GitHub issues important to me, because over there on the GitHub site, "Closed" does not always also mean "resolved", unfortunately.

The new flag (the red one) is a marker to indicate whether you consider it to be new or not. As Faterson mentions, you can set/unset it manually.

On the other hand, "Opened" is not a flag per se. It is an indicator of whether a book has been opened or not. I'm working on a version that will allow you to reset the opened timestamp, a side effect of which would be that the book will be removed the home screen. |
