The amazing Voyage contrast meme is getting absurd. It was absolutely true when the Oasis 1 launched, that screen was awful...

In the context of screens showing black and white I take "lower contrast" to mean that the whites aren't as white and the blacks aren't as black, but in the above comparison images they look awfully close to me. And I agree, having one slightly warmer than the other makes it hard to really compare them.

In dim light, the Oasis 3 is much better than the Voyage, believe me.
Even in bright light, I prefer the Oasis. And I think there are less reflections on its screen.

I've been a long time defender of the Voyage and have always thought it had the best contrast and clarity of any of the Kindles. After reading all the good reviews of the beautiful screen on the new Oasis I decided to try it again. It arrived this morning and the screen is the best in terms of color and evenness and the contrast and clarity are as good as the Voyage. The new Oasis is a winner and a definite keeper.

Going from Gen 1 Oasis to Gen 3 was a major improvement. I'll miss the lighter weight of the Gen 1 Oasis, but the Gen 3 screen just looks nice. The speed improvement is also crazy as well.

The Screen Jump from 6' to 7' does help out Manga a little more. Then again the 7.8' Likebook Mars screen is just about right for a Manga volume.

So far it was worth the upgrade, I just wish I could fit my Gen 3 Oasis in my butt pockets, oh well.....

The Oasis 3 does not have a magnetic back like the Oasis 2. I have a case that just sticks to the back of the Oasis 2 but does not stick to the Oasis 3.

Oh well. Currently I'm reading a book on my Voyage and I've felt from the beginning I don't really like to read on it anymore. The screen is just too small, and page-press sensors are harder to use than buttons. So I decided to sell my Voyage and probably also my Oasis 1 (trade-in is not available outside the US), and get the new Oasis 3 instead. I'm keeping the Oasis 2 and the Nook.

Talk about fortitude and self-discipline.

Anyway, I already placed an order for the new Oasis 32GB Gold with Amazon.de. Not because I'm enormously fond of the golden color, but then I'll have something to distinguish it from my Oasis 2 (I don't use covers). Should be here by the next week, hopefully.

I just received and tried the Amazon "Kindle Oasis Water-Safe Fabric Cover, Marine Blue" case for the Oasis 3. It appears the magnet on the back is within the case - you can fold open the cover and it sticks without the Oasis.

The auto sleep and wake work fine.

Omg jealous! Congrats! I would fork out the extra cash for a gold one (even though i only have about 300 books) just because it looks so good! But alas it’s not available in Australia.
If you don’t use a cover, how do you transport your kindle? Do you like to read on the go?

Anyone else (at bedtime) like to read on their O3 with inverted text colours and warmth to max? Such a pleasure on the eyes!!! I am still finding that without inverted text and warmth to max, the screen is still just a few touches too bright for bed time...
