I ordered it in 'Champagne'. Traded in my existing one. So I’m basically paying $153 (after trade-in discounts and after adding tax) for warm lighting. 😆
The (pathetic) 10% battery increase also tempted me. My ideal Oasis would have the gold color back and edging with a white screen surround, twice as big a battery, and a more tactile, less conductive material for the body. It would also be a normal shape with buttons on both sides as I’m sure flipping the thing every two minutes as I do must drain the battery a lot! But I figure this is as close as they’re going to get to what I’m looking for. I was actually tempted by the Nook Glowlight Plus 3 when I handled it in store, even though it’s big and clunky. There was something special about the screen and font rendering. But then I remembered all the side loading issues. Plus I’m always using the different language dictionaries on my Kindle, and I sometimes get magazines and newspapers. The only thing is, I have to send my current Oasis in by July 6, so I’ll be without it for a couple of weeks. I also really like my white new basic, if it just had the 300 dpi (and maybe the warm lighting) it would be perfect. |

Since I never had any issue with the current lighting on my kindles and I already own the Oasis2, I see no need for a new one. My screens don't look blue anyway, but a soft warm white. I use the light low enough that I can't see it glowing so not any issues there. If I didn't already have the Oasis2, then I might get it. Just to have another kindle with buttons just in case.
I have been going back reading on my Oasis1 lately as the 6 inch size is just much more comfortable for my hands. The 7 inch does make my hands cramp at times. But unfortunately, they don't make a 6 inch with buttons anymore. What am I going to call this newest Oasis? Oasis3? |

It depends on what you do with your hands before reading and how tired you are. When I am done with work I want my hands relaxed as much as possible. I read a lot in bed, and there I don't need to hold my book so it slips out, but rather need to hold it so it doesn't tip forward or back. Well rested on the weekend I have no problem holding the Oasis by grabbing. I choose not to anymore, it simply works better for me not grabbing.

I think I prefer the light on my O2 to the new O3. I don't think I will be changing. Now if they did something about the collections, so we could create them on the PC or Mac, then copy them to the Oasis, I would be first in line.

But I just grabbed it to see where I hold it and it would have to be almost to the edge to be useful for me. My hands are small, which is probably an additional issue with holding the O2 for long periods of time. I have to keep moving my hand to different positions along the edge. Bottom, middle, etc. I try to have some fingertip at that dip, but its not always possible. To be able to hold it my fingertips don't always reach that far as I have to grab it more with my palm to get a grip on it. Its hard to explain how I hold it. And I move and if I stick something on that is not movable, it will probably not be in the right place most of the time. Its the having to hold a larger device up in the air from the edge. After a while the weight just gets to my wrists and hands. And I don't have a cover on it. I had to take it off because of the weight. The smaller oasis even with a cover one, just fits more fully into the palm so the weight distribution is easier on the hands and/or wrist. Again, hard to explain. I would love a O2, but in the size of the O1. The O1 with build in batter, no cover. That would be a dream for me. That way I have the edge to hold and its the perfect size. I have the Voyage, but its really hard to hold without cramping due to the very small bezels. |

![]() I would be interested to know how the battery would be on the new Oasis without the colored lights on. i know I'm probably the only one who would be. |

I currently have the original oasis which came with a 3GB storage, it looks like the new one comes in either 8 or 32GB. Since I don't listen to audio books would I ever need to get a 32GB one?
