There's no difference between the two models other than the frontlight. It depends on how important that is to you. Me, I'm not interested, the previous model is good enough for me.

Yep, On one hand, I knew when I bought an Oasis 2 last week from their amazing deal, a new model would be announced soon after. (I was right!)
On the other hand, after seeing the difference is to make the light look yellow, well, I can now sleep well. |

Other than that, I see little reason to get this if you already have an Oasis or even a somewhat comparable e-reader that works. It just feels like Amazon is late to the color temperature lighting game and finally want to capitalize on it with their premium/large display device. |

Plastic is lighter than glass and even allows for some flexibility. It's probably not worth mentioning in the marketing though unless it's part of significant other changes.

Yes, I meant wouldn't the weight be even lighter than those few grams if the screen was plastic-backed? Kobo Forma with its 8'' screen doesn't weigh more than the Oasis with a 7'' screen.

Again, it's all just a guess from me since nothing else has really changed on the specs or on the outside that I can see. |

I prefer the white/blueish to the yellow so I guess it makes my decision easy.

I've yet to get an Oasis, but if i see one with a good screen (as good as my current reader), then I' might spring for it; but I definitely will not jump on the preorder bandwagon; I got burned once preordering a PW and received one faulty item after another. So, I will wait patiently until i see hands on reviews o and actually hold the item at a best buy, and if the screen looks up to "Voyage" standards then I'll switch to Oasis.
