From the link, you can download the PDF by clicking on the gear icon () and selecting "download PDF". You don't need to sign in or anything for public domain Google scans.

If you've already added it to your Google Play account, you can go to "My Books" from play.google.com and click the three vertical dots next to the book's title. One of the options there will be "Download PDF".

I really like the two features of buying from Google Play (i.e., being able to get any one of the three most popular formats, and being able to get all of them (I think) if you would like to. I think that it varies as to whether or not they are DRM-Free or not, though).

All that I know is that the Crockett one has been reprinted numerous times. I don't know, off the top of my head, of any other Sam./Kings/Chron. harmony that has been reproduced at all, although it sounds like you might know of one or more. As to whether or not the exclusive or near-exclusive reprint of Crockett signifies that there is some advantage to the Crockett edition or not, I don't know. However, I didn't see any other editions available on The Internet Archive.

I don't know what to make of the following book, but it sounds intriguing. So much so that I think that I'm going to have to spring for it:

The Poems of Jesus Christ (1st edition), by Willis Barnstone. 285 pages. $2.99.

Description
The words of Jesus Christ are restored to their original poetic form in this extraordinary volume.

Jesus Christ, whose teachings have been on the lips of millions for two millennia, is revealed here as one of the greatest poets of all time. What happened to deafen us to the poetic nature of his words? In migrating from Aramaic speech into written Greek translation, and later into English translation, the lyrics got locked up as prose.

In
The Poems of Jesus Christ Willis Barnstone unveils the essential poetry of the Gospels by taking the direct speech of Jesus from Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, and lineating and titling Jesus’s words as individual poems. Jesus’s poems are wisdom lyrics and narrative parables, rich with garden, animal, and nature imagery. Austere and poignant, they carry the totality of the Gospels’ message through the intensity of a single voice––the Gospel of Jesus.

I'm a bit skeptical of the whole premise. However, I noticed that Robert Alter, who is highly regarded as a scholar in the literary study of the Bible and of Bible translation, gives a glowing recommendation of the book (look under "Reviews").

Resurrecting Easter: How the West Lost and the East Kept the Original Easter Vision by John Dominic Crossan is $2.99.

I just bought the ebook, but know nothing about it. Crossan is one of my EreaderIQ authors and $3 is cheap enough for me to buy something he's written sight unseen, but this also sounds a bit different than his more academic books.

Quote:
In this four-color illustrated journey that is part travelogue and part theological investigation, bestselling author and acclaimed Bible scholar John Dominic Crossan and his wife Sarah painstakingly travel throughout the ancient Eastern church, documenting through text and image a completely different model for understanding Easter’s resurrection story, one that provides promise and hope for us today.

Traveling the world, the Crossans noticed a surprising difference in how the Eastern Church considers Jesus’ resurrection—an event not described in the Bible. At Saint Barbara’s Church in Cairo, they found a painting in which the risen Jesus grasps the hands of other figures around him. Unlike the Western image of a solitary Jesus rising from an empty tomb that he viewed across Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the Crossans saw images of the resurrection depicting a Jesus grasping the hands of figures around him, or lifting Adam and Eve to heaven from Hades or hell, or carrying the old and sick to the afterlife. They discovered that the standard image for the Resurrection in Eastern Christianity is communal and collective, something unique from the solitary depiction of the resurrection in Western Christianity.

Fifteen years in the making, Resurrecting Easter reflects on this divide in how the Western and Eastern churches depict the resurrection and its implications. The Crossans argue that the West has gutted the heart of Christianity’s understanding of the resurrection by rejecting that once-common communal iconography in favor of an individualistic vision. As they examine the ubiquitous Eastern imagery of Jesus freeing Eve from Hades while ascending to heaven, the Crossans suggest that this iconography raises profound questions about Christian morality and forgiveness.

A fundamentally different way of understand the story of Jesus’ rebirth illustrated with 130 images, Resurrecting Easter introduces an inclusive, traditional community-based ideal that offers renewed hope and possibilities for our fractured modern society.

Thanks for the reminder. I try to check the blog every Friday, but I occasionally forget to.

For folks who are not familiar with WordSearch (sometimes extended to "WordSearchBible," as in the URL for their website, for example), there is a mobile version (app) in addition to the desktop version. It's _free_, and available at the Google Apps Store.

I see where Bart Ehrman's The Triumph of Christianity: How a Forbidden Religion Swept the World is on sale again for $3.99.

I spot-checked some vendors, and found that that price is good at Amazon (mobi) and eBooks.com (PDF, ePub, online). The price on the ebook has not dropped at Google Play or Christianbook at this writing. Ebook.com's* might be DRM-Free, where Amazon's, of a certain, will not be.

A good price on this 4.2-star-rated, 453-page: you'll want to grab it while it's at this great price once again.

* I bought the book at eBook.com. I rarely buy from them. For one reason, I find their website confusing and hard to use (but I am neuronically-challenged). I wanted to test some things about the website, though, and decided to use this as an opportunity to do that.

There are a thimble-full of other religious titles on sale at eBooks.com. Unfortunately, one of the quirks of eBooks.com is that a person can't find a webpage of an email which they send you to announce a deal.

Eerdmans is having a big sale on what one website describes as "Academic/Theology" ebooks.

There are lots of ebooks on that subject, published by Eerdmans, that are available at Amazon, and they are at truly fantastic prices--some are as low as 99 cents (however, a couple of them are widely available reprints of works by Louis Berkhof). A large number of them are priced at $1.99. Then, there are a good number at at the $2.51 (yes, that's $2.51--I don't know why that figure was selected). The next price point seems to be $2.99, and there seems to be a large number of titles for that price. For you spendthrifts ( ), there may be some higher price points--it seems that I saw several at the $4.99 price point, for instance.

I suggest that you go to the Amazon website and do a search of Kindle ebooks using "eerdmans" (without the quotes), "eerdmans" (with the quotes (some astute MobileReader pointed out the fact that enclosing the word within quotes can yield some additional hits)) as the search terms. You might try doing the same thing using "Wm. B. Eeerdmans".

For a company that has its act together in so many ways, Amazon can't seem to create a "sort by" function that yields accurate results--at least not for the "low to high price" choice. But using that is still your best bet in order to ferret out the best deals, IMHO.

My super-secret sources tell me that the sale lasts through April 30, but sales like this have been known to end early.

For the record Amazon do sell some DRM-free ebooks - look for the esoteric phase "Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited".
