From the link, you can download the PDF by clicking on the gear icon (
![]() If you've already added it to your Google Play account, you can go to "My Books" from play.google.com and click the three vertical dots next to the book's title. One of the options there will be "Download PDF". |

I don't know what to make of the following book, but it sounds intriguing. So much so that I think that I'm going to have to spring for it:
The Poems of Jesus Christ (1st edition), by Willis Barnstone. 285 pages. $2.99. Description The words of Jesus Christ are restored to their original poetic form in this extraordinary volume. Jesus Christ, whose teachings have been on the lips of millions for two millennia, is revealed here as one of the greatest poets of all time. What happened to deafen us to the poetic nature of his words? In migrating from Aramaic speech into written Greek translation, and later into English translation, the lyrics got locked up as prose. In The Poems of Jesus Christ Willis Barnstone unveils the essential poetry of the Gospels by taking the direct speech of Jesus from Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, and lineating and titling Jesus’s words as individual poems. Jesus’s poems are wisdom lyrics and narrative parables, rich with garden, animal, and nature imagery. Austere and poignant, they carry the totality of the Gospels’ message through the intensity of a single voice––the Gospel of Jesus. I'm a bit skeptical of the whole premise. However, I noticed that Robert Alter, who is highly regarded as a scholar in the literary study of the Bible and of Bible translation, gives a glowing recommendation of the book (look under "Reviews"). Resurrecting Easter: How the West Lost and the East Kept the Original Easter Vision by John Dominic Crossan is $2.99.
I just bought the ebook, but know nothing about it. Crossan is one of my EreaderIQ authors and $3 is cheap enough for me to buy something he's written sight unseen, but this also sounds a bit different than his more academic books. B&N Kobo Amazon Quote:

WordSearch Bible has a great free book this Friday through the weekend. Defending Your Faith: An Introduction to Apologetics by R.C. Sproul. They have a new free book every Friday but this one is especially useful. https://blog.wordsearchbible.com/201...ith/#more-3488

For folks who are not familiar with WordSearch (sometimes extended to "WordSearchBible," as in the URL for their website, for example), there is a mobile version (app) in addition to the desktop version. It's _free_, and available at the Google Apps Store. |

I see where Bart Ehrman's The Triumph of Christianity: How a Forbidden Religion Swept the World is on sale again for $3.99.
I spot-checked some vendors, and found that that price is good at Amazon (mobi) and eBooks.com (PDF, ePub, online). The price on the ebook has not dropped at Google Play or Christianbook at this writing. Ebook.com's* might be DRM-Free, where Amazon's, of a certain, will not be. A good price on this 4.2-star-rated, 453-page: you'll want to grab it while it's at this great price once again. * I bought the book at eBook.com. I rarely buy from them. For one reason, I find their website confusing and hard to use (but I am neuronically-challenged). I wanted to test some things about the website, though, and decided to use this as an opportunity to do that. There are a thimble-full of other religious titles on sale at eBooks.com. Unfortunately, one of the quirks of eBooks.com is that a person can't find a webpage of an email which they send you to announce a deal. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 04-06-2019 at 02:32 AM. |

Eerdmans is having a big sale on what one website describes as "Academic/Theology" ebooks.
There are lots of ebooks on that subject, published by Eerdmans, that are available at Amazon, and they are at truly fantastic prices--some are as low as 99 cents (however, a couple of them are widely available reprints of works by Louis Berkhof). A large number of them are priced at $1.99. Then, there are a good number at at the $2.51 (yes, that's $2.51--I don't know why that figure was selected). The next price point seems to be $2.99, and there seems to be a large number of titles for that price. For you spendthrifts ( ![]() I suggest that you go to the Amazon website and do a search of Kindle ebooks using "eerdmans" (without the quotes), "eerdmans" (with the quotes (some astute MobileReader pointed out the fact that enclosing the word within quotes can yield some additional hits)) as the search terms. You might try doing the same thing using "Wm. B. Eeerdmans". For a company that has its act together in so many ways, Amazon can't seem to create a "sort by" function that yields accurate results--at least not for the "low to high price" choice. But using that is still your best bet in order to ferret out the best deals, IMHO. My super-secret sources ![]() Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 04-06-2019 at 02:32 AM. |
