One of my biggest beefs with Amazon's set up instructions for their Alexa enabled devices and their set up instructions for connecting to other devices with Alexa is that they tend to be incorrect more often than correct. It is a moving target. Amazon changes the procedures so ****ing often that even they cannot keep up with the changes and their instructions tend to be outdated. I find that it is usually better to do an internet search and find a good YourScrewed YouTube video from someone who actually got it to work, but those are often outdated too.

Well my first try at placing an order using Alexa didn't work so well. I put a smokeless indoor grill in my empty cart, then said "Alexa, what's in my cart?". It told me one "nutribullet". So I asked what a nutribullet was and was told it's a food extractor.
If anyone else is curious enough to try this themselves, use Hamilton Beach model 25361 - it would be interesting to see if it works correctly for others. I included the 3-year protection plan if that matters... |

Back when there was an explicit category for smart home, it did tell you to "discover", either in the app or by commanding "Alexa-discover". When Jeff's kids streamlined the app by combining smart home with installing new Echos into "Add Devices" the directions to "discover" was dropped and they expected the devices setup directions to do that.
I think that was done because not all devices (e.g. new Echos) needed to be discovered. Unfortunately, not all device manufacturers included that instruction and so confusion abounded. Since it doesn't hurt anything to have Alexa discover, I think that was an oversight. I tell Alexa to discover every now an then just to make sure nothing new has shown up or nothing has been renamed. |

When I bought my second Dot 3 before Xmas it arrived already discovered. Unfortunately they chose to name it the same as a Dot 2 I gifted to my sister a year earlier. I had named that device "Donnas Dot2" but then remembered to deregister it before I gave it to her. Not sure what she named it, but deregistering it caused the name "Donnas Dot2" to no longer show up in my device list. Then when my new Dot 3 arrived "Donnas Dot2" showed back up in my list of devices. That was confusing and it took me awhile to realize they had reused the old name for a new device rather than using the traditional "[your name's] 2nd Dot 3" or something that makes more sense. I was getting frustrated that I couldn't get the new Dot 3 to finish registering, but then I finally decided to go to my computer and pull up my devices and see just what the heck "Donnas Dot2" really was, and it was a Dot 3, not a Dot 2, so then I knew what stupidity I was dealing with. At that point all I had to do was rename it. I still cannot believe how utterly stupid Bezos ba*turd [sic] children can be.

Having a lot of trouble with dropping in to other echos within the house. Connection seems to start to cut out after about 30 seconds and then end about 30 seconds after that. It's been a worsening problem over the past couple of weeks. Any suggestions? Tried repluggin in and reset.

It refers to a tax issue currently in the news over here. The most likely way is it was accidentally copied and then pasted from an article or similar on the subject. The particular words are not familiar so I'm not sure of the source. I need to check my posts more carefully. It's quite embarrassing to have been caught accessing such dry and boring subject matter!
