Since we already have a dict to mict patch that deals with custom dictionaries not being replaced on sync, if posible it would be great if we could have one that can change the display name of the dictionaries in the drop down menu to custom ones.

Is there a chance that this sort of patch will be made, or is it too complex to implement? |

Yes, I'll take a look tomorrow if I can. It probably can be made pretty easily as long as nothing else depends on the name and that it is more or less in one peice in the binary. If not, it can probably still be made, but it may take a bit more work.

Hello,
I would like to sugest 2 requests that would benefict a lot (my) reading experience: 1. Search Google or Duckduckgo with specific prefix: My native language is Portuguese, but everything I read is English. I find sometimes that the dictionary lack some unique words, but most of it they lack every expression that envolves 2 or more words. This is when I need google translate or similar to translate the 2 or 3 words, or the entire phrase. Given this context, my request is that a new submenu is created with Google Translate or duckduckGo, with the specific prefix that could be setup in patch settings: - In case of Google Translate, the settings would be the languages of with one wants to translate (from PT to EN, for example) - In case of duckduckgo, we could use the !bangs, for example if you search duckduckgo with the prefix !enpt SOMETINHG, it then opens google translate and translates SOMETHING from English to Portuguse 2. Share to email I dont use facebook, but many times I like to share phrases with my friends. This envolves a lot of work - highlight the phrase in kobo, then access with calibre, then share by email in the PC/mac My request is to create a new entry in Share menu saying something like "email me", which sends the highlighted test to the email address that may be setup in patch settings. Thanks in advance. I hope that I'm not repeating any previous request. I've searched for "share" and "search" in this thread and found noting related to what i'm requesting. The email one will not be possible as a patch, but it can probably be made as a combo between a patch and a mod. The mod would run a local web server which can send emails, and then I would make a patch to use it's url when sharing. Although I can, I have no personal interest in this patch, so I won't be making this unless someone else does. |

No new patch was required for this. All that was needed was to manually edit the Dictionary table in the Kobo database. Have you tried this approach as detailed in surquizu's step-by-step? |

Then theres also the wasted space with the "Extra" prefix which kind of doesnt look as clean as it could poetntially be. That prefix cant be removed as far as i understood, or am i wrong here? |

You're entitled to ask geek1011 for new patches and geek1011 is entitled to provide them if he can and if he wants to. All I was trying to do is to point out what can already be done. Referring back to my earlier screenshot, 3rd dictionary in the list - I was able to change the list label from 'English - English' to 'English - English OED_Ed3' by manually editing the Name field in the Dictionary table, as detailed in surquizu's step 5. As always, the best way to find out what can be done is to try it ![]() Last edited by jackie_w; 01-22-2019 at 06:31 PM. |

Way simpler when you put it this way. I got spooked by the sheer ammount of text in that post , and never made it to step 5 ![]() After making the changes with SQLite Expert Professional, are they commited automatically or you need to press some button, as i dont see the familiar to me "save" symbol in the UI? Edit: Ok , so i managed to make the changes on device. I edited 4 dictionaries(en, en-de, en-fr and fr-en) in the grid under "name" and the chages did take and were displayed in the dropdown menu on the ereader.Did a restart just in case. But with the changed names i can access only one dictionary, when trying to switch nothing happens. Last edited by ReaLx3m; 01-23-2019 at 06:53 AM. |

I guess ill wait for the @geek1011 patch, as i really like to get rid of that text infront of the dict name. Which i gather wouldnt be posible with this method. Either way its nice to know that there is an available option even at this moment, even though not as clean as it could be. Thanks for the suggestion and your input regarding the subject ![]() |

@geek1011, I've been so happy with your existing patches (particularly all tap zones page forward) that I haven't spent much time thinking about further ones...but a recent thread elsewhere in the forum reminded me that it would be great to be able to sync page reading progress between our Kobo devices and the best (IMHO) Android eReader app, Moon Reader Pro. The developer of the app, who is very responsive, can be reached at seanyword@gmail.com and, if this possibility is of any interest to him (and, obviously, to you) my money would be on you (and/or NiLuJe) being able to figure it out. I've already written to him to suggest it.
Whispersync on Kindle is still one of the few benefits of that environment, and it would be great to have our own answer to it for Kobos (and, to head off those who love to suggest solutions that don't address my issue: yes, I know if I use Kobo's reader on my Android phone I can sync books purchased at Kobo, but their reader app is not very good and I sideload most of my books); and, yes, I also know installing KoReader on both devices theoretically can work, but I prefer the Nickel UI on my Kobo and Moon Reader Pro on my android). Thanks, as always, for all the work you do that make our devices so much better!! Last edited by rogerinnyc; 01-23-2019 at 04:58 PM. Reason: fixes |

Is there any way to disable Fast Page Turn? Not only is it poorly implemented, the Forma's buttons make it completely redundant.
