The list of discounted titles hasn't really changed since last October when I became aware of them. There's been the odd one in a special deal like the current one, but it's not the same as the Patricia Wentworth Golden Age titles which regularly go on sale. I've been doing better with the Georgette Heyer discounts - they change regularly and I think I can start thinking about clearing out my old Pan paperbacks.

And yet another: The Vagabond Clown, Nicholas Bracewell series, #13

link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vagabond-Cl...dp/B00GQDQM1Q/

Spoiler:
Quote:
I hoped that we might be safe but we have not seen the last of them, after all. They want more blood.' During a performance of their new play, A Trick to Catch a Chaste Lady, Westfield's Men are sabotaged, and they find themselves in the throngs of an audience-player melee. In the midst of the rotten-vegetable battlefield, one of the audience members is found stabbed, and their masterful clown, Barnaby Gill, is discovered with a broken leg. With the company clown-less, they must find a replacement before they embark on their tour of Kent. Enter Gideon Mussett, a ruffian, scallywag and all around drunk. Thinking the victim in the theatre was an accident. Nicholas Bracewell and his fellows soon learn that there is more to this death than a drunken brawl. With a murderer still on the loose, it appears further deaths are on the cards, but who will be the second victim?

Sea Change is the fifth in the Jesse Stone series by Robert B. Parker. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Change-Jesse-...dp/B000PDYW0Q/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/sea-change-4

Spoiler:
Quote:
Police chief Jesse Stone faces the case of his career in this thrilling novel in the New York Times bestselling series.

When a woman's partially decomposed body washes ashore in Paradise, Massachusetts, police chief Jesse Stone is forced into a case far more difficult than it initially appears. Identifying the woman is just the first step in what proves to be an emotionally charged investigation. Florence Horvath was an attractive, recently divorced heiress from Florida; she also had a penchant for steamy sex and was an enthusiastic participant in a video depicting the same. Somehow the combination of her past and present got her killed, but no one is talking—not the crew of the Lady Jane, the Fort Lauderdale yacht moored in Paradise Harbor; not her very blond, very tan twin sisters, Corliss and Claudia; and not her curiously affectless parents, living out a sterile retirement in a Miami high rise. But someone—Jesse—has to speak for the dead, even if it puts him in harm's way.

Chopping Spree is the 11th in the Goldy Schulz series by Diane Mott Davidson. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Chopping-Spre...dp/B00309SCQW/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/chopping-spree

Spoiler:
Quote:
Her inventive recipe for mixing first-class suspense and five-star fare has made Diane Mott Davidson a favorite of mystery lovers and a mainstay on major bestseller lists across the country. Now she has prepared another irresistibly tempting tale spiced with mystery and mayhem…

For Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz, business isn’t just booming--it’s skyrocketing. Her friend Marla is constantly warning her, “Success can kill you.” But Goldy doesn’t take the warning literally until her next booking: a cocktail party for the Westside Mall’s Elite Shoppers Club.

While setting up, Goldy is nearly run down by a truck with no intention of stopping. Then she finds an old friend in a pile of sale shoes--stabbed with one of Goldy’s new knives. Goldy must catch the real killer between whipping up Sweethearts’ Swedish Meatballs, Quiche Me Quick, and Diamond Lovers’ Hot Crab Dip. Why was the victim carrying a powerful narcotic? Who hired a private investigator shortly before the murder? Goldy’s gourmet instincts tell her the final course in this case will be a real killer.

I am not familiar with the TV show but have read some of the Elvis Cole books. The Elvis Cole character is a private detective in Los Angeles.

Thanks, apparently no connection but many of the British shows are based on books and both Last Detectives being 2003-ish made me wonder. Then of course there's the Last Policeman trilogy to add to the confusion...
