Okay, I've found it now. Didn't think to look in the Home Page Search dropdown. The Kindle, Sony and Nook all let you expand (or search in) the dictionary when you highlight a word and go to the . I'm an old dog and it's hard to teach me new tricks. Thanks.

And on the Kobo, if you do a lookup when reading and long-press on a word in the dictionary popup, it will look up that word using the search screen. From there, you can use the search to lookup other words.

Ask your library what works. I can use a kindle for Overdrive at my supplementary library. My primary library uses 3m software now and I just sideload since I don't use the tablet for books. T g were are also benefits to having multiple readers (says the ereader hoarder).

Yes, it is possible. But you would have to buy the Kindle Oxford Dictionary and convert it. I have seen this for download someplace, but I did not download it. So someone was able to convert it. I have no idea how difficult it would be.

To be honest, I rarely find a word I look up that isn't found. Also, the Oxford diction for the Kindle has way way too much fluff in it that it's a pain in the ass. More junk than just the definition.

You mean like etymologies? To me a big part of a word's definition is its origin.

In a rare break from the norm, I'll side with Wolf on this one. I'm not sure if his use case is similar to mine, but when I use the dictionary, it's usually on a word that I think I recognize, but am not sure about. In general, I need to know the word to continue with the story, rather than researching the history of the word.

I realize of course, there's no right way to use the dictionary and what works for one probably doesn't work for all.

I'm not always reading stories ... I often read religious and historical books, especially on the Sonys.
