I see that I bought this in a similar offer in October 2015, but I've not read it. I'll move it up my reading list!

I found the 'dystopian twist' foreseeable and catastrophic for the story. It made me stop reading.

I HATE when that happens, and now that I'm old and cynical, it happens far too often.

I can't disagree about the cover, except to point out that the Whelan cover was (a) the first paperback cover (different from the hardback, and thus not "the original") and (b) there's no way Friday Jones was that pale.

It's not quite my favorite Heinlein, though. I think i have to give that nod to The Door zinto Summer.

Well, he got the gender right which by most cover artist standards is at least a moral victory. My theory for years was that reading any portion of a story before designing the cover was considered an artistic faux pas of major proportions.

It's only $0.99 at Amazon US, but I think I'll price-match it at Kobo to bring the cost down to $0.90.

The Quadrail Series Books 1–3: Night Train to Rigel, The Third Lynx, and Odd Girl Out by Timothy Zahn is on sale for $1.99.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0777WP8GV/

Book 1 was on sale for $0.99 last month. The series is a blend of SF & detective/secret agent genres.

I really liked this series and was disappointed when the original publisher cancelled it after book 5. IIRC, the author did wrap everything up quickly in the last third of book 5.

The book is also $1.99 Cdn at Amazon and Kobo's Canadian sites so about $1.56 US. Makes a nice change from the $0.99 US, $8.99 Cdn that often shows.

I've only ever read Zahn's Star Wars books. Will give these a shot, thanks for posting.
