Question Traveling with Kindle: Different Voltages

Can my North American kindle be charged on 220 kV when in Europe or Australia? I’m thinking it must be with a plug adapter without transforming the 220 kV to 110 kV but wanted to confirm.

Can any frequent travelers confirm?

The Kindle charges on USB, which is 5v.

Almost all USB power supplies take both 220v and 110v.

Yes, it can. I've charged mine many times in Scotland.

But you have to double check. I have an Ikea 3-Port USB charger that's only single voltage.

Look at the small print on your USB charger. If it says something like "Input voltage: 110-230v" you'll be fine.

The big problem with charging overseas may be the wall outlet. There are multiple standards which typically vary by country. Here is a charger with 4 prong designs and 4 USB ports offered by Amazon.

You won't need a voltage converter but may need a plug adapter depending on where you are going. Most modem gadgets have 220/110 switching chargers.
