thanks a lot for this Plugin.
I have Arabic book with custom embedded font (in Epub) conversion it to mobi or azw3 mess the fonts.
but with kfx the embedded font are working very well.

I just need to solve the right to left page turning.

for mobi and azw3 I just need to edit opf file:

<spine toc="ncx" page-progression-direction="rtl">

may be for kfx I need to make it in other place?

Make sure that you have declared the language as “ar” in the opf.


Added: Also as of this time e-ink Kindle firmware version 5.9.2.0.1 does not have full support for Arabic in KFX. You need to use a Fire tablet, Kindle for Android or Kindle for iOS.

Is the hyphenation character limit set by Kindle Previewer?

'Hyphenate This' plugin is better for it, but I really like the kerning and ligature of kfx.

Hyphenation for KFX is handled by the reading device/app using dictionaries for each language. It can be turned on and off, but there is no way to adjust how it works.

I'm getting this error during conversion for some books. I couldn't find others reporting this issue. Is it common?

It is a limitation of Enhanced Typesetting. How common it is depends on the type of book. Most novels do not have large tables.

If you want that book to convert to KFX you will need to modify the book content using an ebook editor so that it no longer contains any tables larger than the size indicated in that error message.

Several things:

This thread is for the KFX Output plugin, which creates KFX files. There is a separate thread for the KFX Input plugin. That is the plugin for conversion of KFX files to other formats.

Instructions for DRM removal are not allowed on MobileRead. You will have to ask for directions on to use the AmznKFX program from the place where you downloaded it.

AmznKFX only works with KFX files obtained using Kindle for PC. It will not work with KFX files from any other platform.


Added: Unless you are trying to convert one of the rare books that is only available in KFX format or have an interest in that specific format, it is best to avoid it. See this thread for ways to do so.

Hi, about the page count, can we get the number of page, not from calculation/estimation, but from a "lookup name", such as "#page" from this plugin https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=134000 ? That would be totally awesome, as the mentioned plugin can get exact page count for kindle version from Goodreads or Amazon

The purpose of the PI is to populate the designated column (eg #pages)
You configure the PI as to the method to arrive at that.
Only Goodreads and lubimyczytac.pl are the configurable lookup source.
I do not remember seeing a consistent location for pages on the Amazon.com site. consistent is needed to scrape that info

As far as I can tell conversion plugins do not have access to the content of custom columns, so it is not feasible to implement that feature.

Then how about let the user input the number of pages, instead of automatically "approximate"?

I was reluctant to implement it that way since it requires manual effort to set the desired number of pages for each book converted, thus not being usable for bulk conversion. But since I don't see a better alternative I will go ahead and do that in the next plugin release.
