"he thing with Kindle is that it does not display epub files, whereas almost all other e-readers display mobi, epub, pdf, and more."

That's the reason why i am not sure about Kindle.
Kindles display PRC files. And PDF too.

If the books in your country and your library are in the Kindle-compatible formats, I would buy a Kindle. You can buy books from Amazon too.

Even if you buy an occasional epub from somewhere, it's not that hard to convert it.

While the Overdrive integration on the Kobo Aura One works well for me in Canada, it is only supported in a limited number of countries. As far as I know, none of those countries are in Europe.

Personally, I would think a Tolino or Pocketbook ereader would like be the OPs best choice if he does not purchase a Kindle. If he uses calibre, the original format becomes almost a non-issue. Purchase pretty much any format and convert as needed.

I don't know of any.

One thought I have had, is that maybe before you spend a lot of money on a new device, is that you could buy a used kindle very cheaply and see if it meets your needs. Even if the thing only worked for a month or two, it should be enough time to prove its worth to you.

Yes. You need Calibre and the DeDRM plugin from https://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/. Also, you need to read the thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=283371 in it's entirety.

Actually, if you own a Kindle device, you don't have to worry about K4PC at all, you can just download the book directly from Amazon to your computer.

No, they won't do that. There are people out there still reading their books on the Kindles that came out 9-10 years ago.

I can still read all my Amazon books on my first Kindle which I bought 6 years ago. The old Kindles might not support all the bells and whistles the newer ones do, but you can still read your books on them.

Thanks, I have changed my opinion and i have wanted to buys New Oasis, but they dont send it to Czech republic, they wrote me via email :" Unfortunattely the new Kindle Oasis isn’t available to ship to the Czech Republic. As many features and services may not work outside the U.S., United Kingdom, Austria or Germany, this device is only available for delivery in those supported countries.Should you know someone in Germany or Austria then you can still order the device from Amazon.de and have it delivered to their address. You can then ask them to send it to the Czech Republic.

I will however not recommend this, because if you try to use your device in an unsupported country, some services may not work or may have limited functionality.
"
Do you really think that something will not work in czech republic? :/

If this is your very first e-ink reader, I suggest you get the Paperwhite, not the Oasis. You may not like an e-reader at all. The Paperwhite costs less than half the cost of the Oasis. (I am a penny-pincher)

At least in English, Kindle is known for having a better dictionary than the competitors.

I'm more inclined to try Oasis, I don´t know about Kobo, still weighing my options.
I like Kobo's software better than the rest. But then I also like to tinker with the device. I had to patch and alter Kobo to get it where I like it. For an out of the box simple solution, I'd recommend a Kindle over a Kobo.

I'd also recommend the cheaper Paperwhite over the Voyage or Oasis if you are just starting out. But that's just me.

There's something weird been going on with the new Oasis. I pre-ordered it from Amazon UK and they shipped it to me in Estonia. Afterwards the notice went up that it's not available anymore. I guess they have problems with stocking and so they only ship it to selected countries at the moment. It will almost certainly be available in Czech at some point in the future.

Anyway, the Oasis works as it should, as far as I've been able to ascertain.

Get one with a light. I like the Nook Glowlight 3 over the paperwhite. It feels better in my hands
