Search slower in 3.11.1

Upgraded from 3.10 to 3.11.1. 64-bit. Linux Mint 18.2

When entering something in the search field and pressing enter, it takes much longer than before. (Before maybe 1-2 seconds, now 3-6+.)

Also, before when clicking the clear search field icon, it also implied resetting the view, not I need to also press enter explicity. I prefered the earlier behavior.

That's a glitch, will be fixed in next release - see Removing Search from Search Bar Not Bringing You back To author menu

Can't address your speed issues, I don't use Linux. But, I haven't noticed any slow down on windows searching.

The only thing I can see in the 3.11 release notes that might contribute to slower search times are enhancements to column colouring rules - but it was an addition, so . . .

Using calibre 3.11.1. 64-bit. Linux Mint 18.3 searches are less than 1 second.

I would recommend to upgrade to Mint 18.3 just to take advantage of the improvements in the GUI.

i cant think of anything that could possibly make searching slower. check your settings inpreferences->searching.
