The problem I have with my H2O is that Kobo got a very bad dictionary. And it is too big for me to put in my pocket. So I sold it, and kept my Voyage. |

Sadly, there is no mention of a USB C port and fast charging so I'm assuming the "new" Kindle is still using the USB micro, introduced 10 years ago. A new Kindle with ten-year old technology for data transfer and charging.

It does have a micro USB connector but it also supports a fast charger but it's sold separately. It was one of the things they tried to get me to add at checkout.
Unlike my phone I don't really have a need for fast charge on an ereader. That's both because I don't use it as much and because it drains the battery much slower. |

That charger is faster than this charger but it's not accelerated charging. That's just words to make you think it's something special. You could buy an [urlhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Charger-PowerIQ-Technology-Motorola-Black/dp/B016LPMFUA]Anker USB charger with 2 ports[/url] and up to 2.4a output and it would charge a Kindle every bit as fast as the overpriced Amazon "accelerated" charger. It's just advertising words to confuse you into buying it for more than you need to spend. And yes, it is false advertising. Last edited by JSWolf; 10-13-2017 at 09:30 AM. |

OK, thanks for the info. Technically that's probably correct but ethically I find it a bit dodgy.
I mean I assumed from the name and the description that it was faster than a regular charger and it was only the fact that I have several USB chargers already and fast charging on an ereader is not something I'm interested in that stopped me buying it. If I had I would have paid over the odds for something one of my old phone chargers can already do. |

Most USB chargers these days are 2.1A or 2.4a. 1.8a is an odd output amount. It's not fast enough for general use.

The all-new Kindle Oasis has a battery life measured in weeks, not hours and it includes a fast-charging capability that allows it to go from no battery to fully charged in less than two hours. My paperwhite charges fully in less than 2 hours with the old-fashioned charger. |
