But with ios11 looming to make me upgrade I need to move from Stanza and ibookman to some other tools for PDFs and PDB files. Any one got good recommendations for current similar feature sets? Weylan. |

You've been using some pretty rubbish software. Good think they go away with iOS 11.

GoodReader (you will need to get version 4) is the best app there is for dealing with PDF. There is no better. As for PDB, use Calibre to convert to ePub and find an app you like to read ePub. Just don't use iBooks. |

Wow - I thought Stanza stopped being usable a long time ago. Long long time. Fortunately there is Marvin...the first app that has made me stop missing Stanza. Mind you, I still have fond memories of Stanza.

I concur with JSWolf about GoodReader being great for PDF's. As for iBooks, I actually like it minus the features that are missing and found in Marvin. I don't read much on iBooks as I buy books from Amazon and use the Kindle app. Yeah...not my favorite reading app either...but I don't hate it enough to bother liberating my kindle books to read on Marvin. Apparently Stanza was years ahead of the competition as I'd still use it in a heart beat were it still compatible. I'm shocked no one has just copied it feature for feature. |

I've since simply resigned myself to not being able to carry as many books on my device as I used to. |

I agree that Marvin is excellent. It is the first that has me not missing Stanza (much). And it's been so long since I've used Stanza (I stopped when Amazon stopped developing it)...maybe my memory is foggy about "the good ol' days"

Easy book management was one feature I loved. The swiping up and down the page to adjust the lighting was another (and Marvin has that feature). |

Oh yeah, Hyphen's sync is much more reliable than Marvin's was. I dont know how that is now, but I found it infinitely frustrating in older versions of Marvin. Hyphen (for me) is doing perfect sync between 2 iPads and 2 iPhones. |
