ipad Mini 2 and IOS11

Has anyone here who has a mini 2 done the update yet, and can say how it runs on it? I ask, because I had a Zenpad S 8, waited for simply ages for them to release Android Marshmallow for it, only to have the tablet never run the same after updating, it became sluggish and glitchy as all heck. As I'm totally dependent on the mini 2, I don't want to update it, only to run into similar issues.

I've heard some apps don't work, like Calibre Companion, but I really only use Marvin 3, the browser, and some tumblr.

Google (or Bing etc) ‘iOS 11 performance on iPad mini 2’. There are a number of YouTube videos demonstrating exactly this.

CC should be fixed very soon. I would also check to see if you have any 32 bit apps that will die on iOS 11: Settings-General-About-Apps will list them.

I updated my iPad mini 2 to iOS 11. It does seem to be a bit slower and stutters sometimes. However, I do like the new interface for the iPad and it’s still quite usable. I did delete a few 32 bit apps that will no longer work.

That being said, I haven’t updated my iPhone yet. I’ve heard about there being battery issues. And I really hate the new podcast app in iOS 11. I listen to a lot of podcasts.

Runs absolutely fine on my iPhone 6, and the battery life is at least as good as with iOS 10. Where did you hear about these battery issues?

iOS 11.02 on my iPhone 6s and not battery issues. Whoever is passing around that false roumer needs to stop. P

I’ve seen a few articles and YouTube videos where they mention the battery drain issue with iOS 11. I’m sure it doesn’t effect everyone.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure its what you want. The window for downgrading has now closed, Apple is no longer signing older OS.

Thanks. Sounds like it's background app activity that's the culprit. This is something I've had issues with before, so now I'm super careful to only allow an extremely restricted set to apps (eg email) to work in the background.

It makes no sense at all to go back. Without iOS 11, you won't be able to download new apps or updates to old apps. It means your iPhone or iPad is stuck where it is. Yes, you may be happy with it as it is now, but that won't last for long. You want a new app or to update an app, you're screwed. 32-bit apps are dead.

I have already seen apps that require iOS 11 or they will not even download. Others may offer two versions but the older one will no longer be upgraded. It is not just a 32-bit vs 64-bit change (there are plenty of 64-bit apps on older OS's) but many features and programming interface has also changed. My problem is that many apps I like are not supported on iOS 11.

I downgraded my Mini 4 to iOS10, but I have left my iPad Air2 and iPhone 6S on iOS11. The mini 4 is just for couch surfing and some reading, so not as critical to keep it updated. My Mini1 (now sold) turned into a slug. I hated it after its last upgrade (9 or 10, cant remember) but the new owner was very happy with his purchase. I think its a matter of what you get used to.

I have not updated to IOS 11 yet on a couple apple devices, phone, Air 2, gave my mini 2 to my son, but he hasn't updated yet either. The mini 4 is updated to IOS 11. Although the other devices are nagging me to update now. I'll have to give in sooner or later.
