I Need a Phone thats Just Like the Amazon Fire Phone... - Page 2

My daughter wanted my Fire Phone, so I switched to an Alcatel Pop 4 Plus, which I got last BF. Great phone. Has 16 GB + card slot. I actually like it a lot better than the Fire, after I got used to it.

Is there anything a Fire Phone can do that a regular Android phone or even iPhone with Kindle app installed can't in regards to reading? Probably more choice in regards to reading on non-Fire phones because you can install apps from non-Amazon companies like Kobo.

Really any halfway decent Android phone will be better than the Fire Phone these days. Something like the Moto G Plus 5th gen is good replacement for not too much. The unlocked 64GB 4GB RAM version with no ads is only $270 on amazon.com right now. Plus you can pop a microSD card in for more storage.

The Moto G5 and the Moto E have replaceable batteries, however they are low end phones. Highly regarded Low end phones, but low end nonetheless. I don't know if any of the motos or the recommended phones can be used on the BLU network, but you can google for "BLU Phones" and see if they are available for BLU or check to see if they are sold unlocked.

To my knowledge the Motorola "Z" phones are the only phones that can use the Motorola mods including the extra battery pack. This includes the "Z" Droids, which are unique to Verizon. Though the Droids may be sold outside the USA as differently named models.

To clarify though, the battery mod isn't really a user replaceable battery so much as it is an extended life battery option for power users and those who expect to be away from a power source for extended periods of time.

A refurbished iPhone 6 or 6s or 7 would do you very well. But you need to get at least 32GB. 16GB is almost useless.

I been looking for 2 - 3 months! So there goes all my Amazon Movies

Tho on the other hand I can play my Vudu Movies....

I admit I have never used it, since I hate tiny screens for video, but it seems Amazon thinks it is possible to play Amazon video on Android.

Edit: I just checked, the Amazon video app is in the Google app store.

When you find a phone you're interested in google it and find it's specs on gsmarena.com. That'll tell you whether the battery is replaceable and give you very complete specs and lots of other information, such as comparing battery life, what OS upgrades are available, etc. It's a very useful resource.

You can also go to that site and search for the phone but I find searching on google to be an easier way to get to the page for the phone I want.

A few months ago I set up a tablet to watch Amazon movies. I don't recall which android tablet it was but I think it might have been an Acer with Android 5. I remember getting the app from Amazon, i think, and having a couple of problems getting it to work. I think I had to install something else first but I don't recall the details. I undid it so I can't really give a lot of details. Someone with the same tablet in some forum asked me for help so I did it on mine to help her. Then I removed it. I watch Amazon videos but usually on my laptop or my Fire.

The screen is superior for the price. The PPI on the fire phone is 312 with complete view angle making it perfect to read on. The text rendering is amazing. It has 32gig of space for everything. It's easy to hold as it's long and skinny. I've got Google Play on mine so access to any app needed. I paid $99 for mine unlocked. Then there's the camera which is very high quality. I love my Fire Phone. It's my best device, Nexus 7 would be my second.

If I watch video from Amazon, I do so on my TV using the Amazon app. But I do have the Amazon app on my iPhone and iPad and they do work.

I tried that one a month ago it wouldn't work as it was for Prime Only.... I see they did a recent update trying again
