Eh. Kobo right now doesn't have anything comparable to the $80 Kindle and the Kobo Aura 2 at $130 is more like a PW2 than a PW3 with it's 212PPI screen. Amazon has been extremely aggressive with pricing on the Kindle and Paperwhite in Canada. Our $80 Kindle has no ads yet costs the same as the U.S model with ads. Yet our dollar is only about 80 cents U.S. I think Amazon Canada isn't making much money if at all on the sale of Kindle hardware. They want to steal as much marketshare from Kobo as they can.

In Canada the base Kobo is $130. The PW3 is $140. The $80 Kindle is irrelevant to the comparison as Kobo doesn't produce such a low-functionality unit. Kobo is selling far less books on their devices than Amazon, so it's safe to say neither company is selling at cost.

Also the OP is in UK not the US so the stock is a bit different.

I did double check once you posted and you are correct that he put the wrong description but I do believe he was showing everyone that the Oasis is still available for purchase. This thread is not about features, it is about whether or not the Oasis is still for sale.

Point is Oasis are still for sale.

That would be like me saying HEB must be going out of business because they are only making 3 kinds of bread right now. Note: they are not going out of business, they just need more white, wheat and hot dog buns to feed people right now. For at least the first week after Harvey, they were the only grocery store open in Houston and they took their portable kitchens down there to feed everyone.

If that were DBX's point--that the current Oasis has stock available--he would have just said something to that effect. But his real point (which was mistaken) was that he thought he saw language for a new model Oasis that included PagePress and adaptive front lighting. That would be entirely appropriate for a thread titled "New Kindle oasis on way."

Of course, threads also tend to wander off-topic. You've likely noticed that before, I'm sure.
