You guys are simply better evil geniuses than I am. I'm obviously just a mediocre evil genius. Or worse, a severely-lacking evil genius....

So I'm told. I'll keep striving.

Oooooh, I wish I could do that! Wouldn't that be awesome? I'm dying to hook up that robob*tch, the one who tells me I stayed at one of their resorts (yer, right...) with the credit card cow. I really would. Let them talk at each other for days. (rubs hands together in an approximation of Evil Genius.)

What I really want is some Evil Genius Hacker, who can do that hacktivist stuff that they do in the movies, y'know...send an electromagnetic pulse down the phone line and blow up the Scumbag Scammers' server. Or make it catch fire. Or pay for free pizzas for everyone in China. Or something like that...

I've got an eczema break out on the sole of my left foot. The itchiness is driving me crazy. I sometimes get it when it's hot for a longer period of time and/or when I wear no socks in my shoes or sandals. It hasn't been hot for a couple of weeks and I have been wearing my socks. Why?!

It's the worst break out since I've been drinking Yakult every day. The only thing that helps against the itchiness is tea tree oil and I didn't bring that with me. So I have to wait until I go home for work tomorrow until I have relief. I might try some handcream. I'm not sure which one I brought, but sometimes it helps a bit.

It sucks doesn't it? I have it on my soles of my feet all the time. I haven't found anything to help. I also have it on my right arm. Sometimes it's so bad on my knuckles they bleed. Feel better.

Mine is triggered by stress, then it flares up around my belly button, and when it warm. Then there are several areas where it flares up when it's warm. I've learned some tricks to keep it under control mostly, like wearing a long sleeved cardigan in hot weather prevents a flare up on the inside of my elbow.

Two years ago, at the end of summer, I suddenly got a flare up on the palms of my hands and a couple of fingers on my right hand. It was very itchy and flaky and took months to clear. Last summer it flared up on the top of my right hand and my left middle finger. It slowly cleared when I started to drink a bottle of Yakult each day.

The Yakult has helped in general, flare ups aren't as bad and usually don't itch, so it heals a lot quicker.

I think the patch on the sole of my foot is because I got something in my shoe when walking the dog yesterday morning. I took it out when I got home, but that was too late. Tea tree oils work well (although it stinks) for the soles of my feet for some reason. Last night I eventually put a blister patch on it so I wouldn't rub of scratch it in my sleep, it did help with the itching. Today, I'm going home earlier than normal so I can apply the oil before work and have time to let it soak into my skin.

Came downstairs this morning and didn't see Mabel (our cat). Passed through the living room and looked through the sliding door and screen to see a ginger cat resting on the balcony. Cute I thought, a friend for Mabel waiting for her, they'll chat through the screen.

Second look... Crap it's Mabel.

Slide the screen open and notice a hole in the screen.

Pick up Mabel and bring her in and close both the screen and door.

Now that is a smart cat. She didn't go too far. She knew her home. She just wanted to sun a little. Sorry about the hole though.

What a damned day.

Not only did some "prospective customer" excoriate me because I didn't "understand" (yeah, right--I simply stated that I didn't think that he'd be happy with the results) how his book was going to be special, and use js user-agents, to detect WHICH CSS sheet to serve, to a specific device, in ePUB format (this is in the ePUB3 spec, but, kids, it's OPTIONAL, which means that pretty much, like every other optional thing in the spec, MAYBE iBooks has implemented it, but pretty much, NOBODY ELSE), but then--and this is special:

I had to explain HYPHENATION to one of our clients.

What? This person WROTE. A. BOOK. For the love of...s/he didn't understand HYPHENATION? Not how hyphenation works, in a device; basic hyphenation.

I'm still sort of standing here with my "gobsmacked" face.

There are days when I literally don't know if I'm just losing it, or if the world gets more freaking peculiar by the bl**dy day.

I agree with Cinisajoy.

Today we had a customer who proudly declared that when he rewired his home he used the brown cable for ground/earth instead of the yellow/green one. He did this because brown is much more logical since actual ground (dirt) is brown, too. He was able to get blue cable on the cheap, so he used that for everything else. My father refused to sell him anything, because it can come back to haunt us.

This weekend my father is going to see if he can report the guy somewhere. Not only is it dangerous for anyone in the future having to deal with the electrics, we suspect his house is a fire risk because of what he wanted to buy from us and what he told us he wanted to use if for. We know his address, hopefully we can report him somewhere.

Wow. I thought that the UK requirement that anyone doing large electrical work on their own house was required to have it inspected was a bit of bureaucracy gone too far. Clearly I was wrong. Yes, please do report him to the appropriate authority - his house is clearly a death trap.

English regulations:
Spoiler:
Since 2005, all electrical work in dwellings in England and Wales whether carried out professionally or as DIY, and whether or not the work is notifiable to a building control body (see below), must meet the requirements of Part P of the Building Regulations.
[...]
From April 2013 electrical work in a dwelling, or associated with its surroundings, is notifiable to a local building control body where the work includes:

• the installation of a new circuit, whether at low voltage (typically 230 V) or extra-low voltage); or
• the replacement of a consumer unit (fusebox); or
• any alteration or addition to an existing circuit in a special location*, whether at low voltage (typically 230 V) or extra-low voltage

I'd be surprised if there weren't similar regulations in the Netherlands.

There probably are. The thing is not everyone follows the rules.
We have regulations in the US too.
