Thanks for the info. Amazon says the author was in the military and has a physics degree so I was hoping for something more than "childish", haha.

It's definitely in the Young Adult camp. I also just didn't find the writing that great, thus that's at least partly responsible for my "childish" comment.

Small correction. Amazon did not say that. Either the author or his publisher wrote that. So take it with a grain of salt.

Dragonsbane (Winterlands #1) by Barbara Hambly is $1.99 in the US at the moment. Originally published by Del Rey and Ballentine. ebook on sale by Open Road so it may be a daily deal.

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/dragonsbane
https://www.amazon.com/Dragonsbane-W.../dp/B004TC149G

An idealistic young prince convinces an aging warrior and a struggling witch to help him kill the dragon that is terrorizing his kingdom

As a vicious dragon stalks the Southlands, Crown Prince Gareth ventures to the forbidding North in search of the only man who can kill it. He is Lord Aversin, the Dragonsbane, whose dragon-slaying days have won him renown across the land. But when Gareth finds Lord Aversin, he discovers the mighty hero is squat and bespectacled, the ruler of a mud-village who admits that he killed the dragon not with a lance, but with ignoble poison. Still, he’ll have to do.

Gareth and Aversin set off in company with Jenny Waynest, a witch with great ambitions but disappointingly puny powers—a ragtag crew destined to become legendary, or die in the attempt.

It's worth noting that there's a 10% discount for buying all three at once. (Click the series link to see the bundle-discount option.) That said, I haven't yet decided whether I'll do so myself.

You can also get all of the novels and a bunch of short stories at Watt's website, and there's even a handy Paypal link should you want to give him a donation.

Lowest price ever on Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Fall of Neskaya: Clingfire Trilogy

The Fall of Neskaya: The Clingfire Trilogy, Volume I by Marion Zimmer Bradley
On sale for $2.99 at Amazon US.

This is one of the better of her later, co-written novels. It is the lowest price since eReaderIQ has been tracking it in 2012

Quote:
The Fall of Neskaya, Book One of the Clingfire Trilogy, marks the legendary author's final return to Darkover before her death. Set in the tumultuous era of The Hundred Kingdoms, a terrible time of strife and war, this unique fantasy world is divided into a mutlitude of small belligerent domains vying for power and land. One ambitious and corrupt tyrant will stop at nothing to control Darkover-even wield the terrifying weapons of the matrix.

Many of Bradley's books, and a large number of the short stories, are set at the tail end of the Ages of Chaos, in a period she called the Hundred Kingdoms. By this era, the laran breeding programs had been abandoned, and the many small principalities were beginning to consolidate into the seven domains that survived into Darkover's modern era. Bradley's innovation, the adoption of "The Compact," is a turning point in the development of Darkover's social order. "The Compact" bans all weapons that can be used without bringing the user into equal danger, effectively banning laran weapons, but allowing swords and knives. The Hundred Kingdoms may be read as commentary on the use of weapons of mass destruction in Earth's own endless conflicts.

Lowest price on 3-book bundle of Stephen Lawhead's Dragon King Trilogy

The Dragon King Collection: In the Hall of the Dragon King, The Warlords of Nin, and The Sword and the Flame (The Dragon King Trilogy) by Stephen Lawhead.

It is $2.99 at Amazon US -- lowest price since it was started tracking in 2014. We're talking less than $1.00/book (for 877 pages)

Quote:
Bestselling author Stephen R. Lawhead’s Dragon King Trilogy—now available in one volume.

In the Hall of the Dragon King

Carrying a sealed message from the war-hero Dragon King to the queen, Quentin and his outlaw companion, Theido, plunge headlong into a fantastic odyssey and mystic quest. In his valiant efforts to save the kingdom and fulfill his unique destiny, he will cross strange and wondrous lands filled withbrave knights, beautiful maidens, a mysterious hermit, and a deadly, giant serpent.

The Warlords of Nin

It has been ten years since Quentin helped the Dragon King battle the monstrous sorcerer Nimrood. Since then, there has been peace in the land of Mensandor. But everything changes when an urgent message summons Quentin to the dying king. The brightening Wolf Star is an omen of impending evil that might just herald the beginning of the end of mankind.

The Sword and the Flame

The Dragon King who now rules the land of Mensandor is none other than Quentin, whose courage and heroism have slowly transformed him from an orphaned servant into a war hero, respected leader, and a fierce man of faith. Shattered by the death of a dear and trusted friend, the abduction of his beloved son, and the loss of his enchanted sword, Quentin finds his faith tested like never before

The Song of Albion collection by Stephen Lawhead is also on sale for $2.99 at Amazon, B&N and Kobo, but for some reason the Dragon King Collection is only on sale at Amazon and B&N. Maybe another opportunity for a Price match and 30 cent discount at Kobo.
