HD Fire HD 8 won't connect to PC.

Hi all!

I've been googling for hours, and trying every solution I find, but am still stuck. I have a Kindle Fire HD 8 (6th gen) and am running Windows 10 on my laptop.

I cannot for the life of my get my computer to recognize my device. This was also an issue with my HDX 7. I've never had a problem until about two weeks ago.

I've tried every port on my laptop, and 4 different USB cords. I've rebooted both the device and the laptop, while the device was plugged into the computer and while it wasn't. I've tried updating drivers in Device Manager, but am told that Windows cannot find drivers for my Kindle.

I'm really at my wits end here and have NO idea what to do, besides throw the whole damn thing into traffic.

Does anyone have any advice?

ETA: It's definitely an issue with my computer, I plugged the kindle into a different computer and it picked it up immediately.
