ksm menu items disappear after "USB enable"

If I enable USB, and then do "return", the menu items I've added for KOreader, vlasovsoftlauncher, and Cool Reader all disappear. In addition, if I do "power off" with USB enabled, the poweroff_info.html file isn't visible (so the poweroff screen says "cannot open file: /mnt/onboard/.adds/kbmenu_user/txt/poweroff_info.html"). This is not affected by whether I've run "eject" from my desktop. If I use the "explore_all.msh" script with USB enabled, /mnt/onboard appears empty. If I run "disable USB" the missing menu items show up again. Config is KSM 08 + patch 4c on a new Kobo Aura Edition 2 with the latest (4.3.8842) firmware. Any ideas? Thanks! Dan |

On a side note, do not install KSM08_ext_for_all_models_04b_rotation_test.zip after you have installed KSM08_ext_aura_one_etc_04c.zip, or you overwrite the 04c files with the older 04b files. If you want to install the rotation test, please install immediately afterwards KSM08_ext_aura_one_etc_04c.zip.

Installed 4.3.8842 only for help (*) so tell me ALL the testing you need About rotation problem: 1. Factory reset H2O to have a clean device -> updated to 4.3.8842 2. Installed KSM08 -> "update" KSM08_ext_aura_one_etc_04c.zip -> "partial update" KSM08_ext_for_all_models_04b_rotation_test.zip 3. Followed instruction to do the test (several times) and all gone well. If you need more test, please let me now (*) I used 3.12.1 because I think is the last FW I enterely like, but recently change to 3.19.5761. That's the reason I could not help you like I did before. I really love your work and want to help in anything I can, sure.

Please install KSM08_ext_aura_one_etc_04c.zip anew. Since you overwrote it with the older KSM08_ext_for_all_models_04b_rotation_test.zip. Could you please then start nickel (normally with "start nickel") and exit back to KSM, and tell me whether it worked or whether there was a without screen rotation? Thank you again and have a nice weekend! Last edited by tshering; 03-04-2017 at 06:17 AM.

No, i tried it after all installed but... Yes, with the test script all gone well but not with "star nickel", probably because the old files of KSM08_ext_for_all_models_04b_rotation_test. Quote:

Thank you again for testing. I think I should simply remove the test package to prevent further confusion. I still do not understand why the test script did not work for fradav as described here. Edit: No, it was my mistake. I gave a bad instructions how to handle this. I removed them now to not confuse others. Last edited by tshering; 03-04-2017 at 11:47 AM. |

If the installation order is like described in post #495, then the rotation problem was introduced again by "star_nickel" of the old "...4b". About the lack of "OK" button there's two option to reproduce it: 1. run nickel with the test script but exit with reset instead of "exit.png". Then no "OK" button but no rotation screen. 2. run nickel with "star_nickel" and exit with "exit.png". Then no "OK" button and rotation screen.

Anyway, the important point for me is that you confirmed that there is no rotation problem with H2O under the most recent patch, and that I do not have to search for another solution. Thank you again. Last edited by tshering; 03-04-2017 at 01:38 PM.

@tshering Hi, how I can uninstall patch 04c? I am using firmware 3.19 on a Kobo Mini. I have problems with WiFi in KSM8 that I didn't have before and I want to check if the patch is the cause before doing a proper bug report. |

Does "problems with WiFi in KSM8" mean that you cannot connect to a WiFi network via the KSM menu, and that you can however connect to it from within nickel and KOReader?

Yes. And worst. I am using KSM8 with patch 04c, Nickel version 3.19.5761, and last development version from KOReader. My device is a Kobo Mini. WiFi in Nickel and KOReader are working great. With KSM, if I choose either enable dhcp or static, sdio wifi and dhd.ko will appear as loaded. Months ago, doing that, I could start KOReader and access directly OTA updates. WiFi worked there. Now, after enabling WiFi on KSM, when I start KOReader, if I check Gear Icon/Network, the menu entry Wi-Fi connection will appear as unticked. But if I exit KOReader, I will be prompted with a message asking me if I want to turn off WiFi. If instead, I tap on Wi-Fi connection, sometimes it will enable it and I will be able to use Wi-Fi and sometimes it will crash KOReader. Note that if I start KOReader without enabling WiFi before on KSM, WiFi will always work on KOReader. On KSM, if I enable WiFi, I am not able to access google news or weather info, I get a exit_code:_1. Manage networks will return nothing. However, if I enable WiFI on KOReader, exit it and leave WiFi on, then, on KSM I can get Manage network info and weather. Google news will return exit_code:_1. |
