You can change the background color and font color in Calibre. Calibre E-book viewer > prefrences > colors and backgrounds. You can also change the text color to your choice.

It still is not the same. No matter what I prefer Moon + over the Calibre reader.

My current preference is MapleRead on iOS. I really like its thoughtful usage model, which is still undergoing frequent enhancement with feedback from its user community, including some of us at the Apple Devices forum.

MapleRead is not yet ready for prime time until the serious bugs in the overrides are fixed. It has potential, but that's it for now.

I don't see much hope in the long standing issues of Marvin being fixed/updated/added. back when Marvin 2 was being actively worked on, syncing annotations/bookmarks and ADE page numbers were mentioned as necessary and they still don't exist. That's why when Marvin 3 came out that I did not upgrade because (for me) Marvin 3 brought nothing to the table that was worth updating.

What makes me mad is that if I want Moon+ on my iPhone I need to purchase the app again. It is messed up that I have purchase the app through Amazon for an Android table but I need to spend money again for the app. I should just be able to show my receipt to the company and they give me the app for my iPhone.

Back when I had an Ipad I purchased a lot of apps I'd already bought on Android and then after, I found new apps I liked on IOS and repurchased them for my Android devices. I don't think anyone likes this but that's the way it is and it's not likely to change. The systems don't communicate with one another and the developers would have to have a fairly extensive bit of automation to allow them to handle that themselves and I doubt that many people have devices in both platforms so it probably wouldn't be worth doing.

I have a better idea! Apple sells IOS to Google and the next Idevices come with Android installed.

Just kidding! I'm glad there's this competition. Each system would be worse without the pressure of the other one.

Sorry about the reality check, but - if I understand you right - you're saying that when you buy an app on iPhone, you should be entitled to receive the same app on Android and Windows. That seems (a) unfair and (b) unrealistic.
UNFAIR because as a rule, porting an app to a new operating system is a serious amount of work, which is to say it costs the app developer a chunk of cash. I think the app developer is entitled to charge you for that (of course, they are also entitled to give it away for free ... but I think this is for the app developer to decide, based on their own marketing priorities).
UNREALISTIC because the various app stores are owned by separate firms (Apple, Google, Microsoft) and there is no incentive for them to cooperate on cross-store purchasing. Indeed, the usual T&Cs for the app stores actually *forbid* developers from selling app features anywhere other than the appropriate app store. Consider this scenario: I tell some Android app user that they can pay $1.99 for the 'remove advertising from the screen' feature for my Freda app in Google Play, and then I will provide that user with a magic code that they can enter into Freda on Windows to get rid of advertising on the Windows app too, without any further payment beyond what they already paid in Google Play. In that scenario, Microsoft will kick me off the Windows Store, because I've accepted payment, via some mechanism other than the Windows Store, for an in-app purchase in my Windows App - and this breaches their developer T&Cs. There may be ways to negotiate around this, but the starting point is going to be 'lawyer says no'.

BTW, I should probably clarify that, right now, Freda is not available on Android/Google Play. The work on porting it is proceeding reasonably well, but it will be some time (months) yet.

Question for those who use Mandano/Bookari - is it possible to press a word for dictionary lookup without causing a highlight that then has to be deleted?

@4691mls (I'm editing my initial comment because I was wrong). Yeah, I'm seeing that behaviour too, it shows a menu where you choose the action you want to do with the highlighted word, but even if you choose the dictionary, the word keeps highlighted and you have to delete it afterwards. I haven't seen a menu option to change this behaviour, maybe we can open a ticket in support
