Light adjustment under 8110 and 8382 is bad. When reading with some ambient light (just enough to read a normal book by if you'd want to), the KA1 thinks it's nice to bump the light setting to 35%, burning your eyes out. Setting the light is also almost impossible, because you need to be *very* precise to actually get it at something like 7%, and as soon as you let go, it still jumps either lower or higher. Dragging up or down on the left hand side does so in 6% increments instead instead of 5%, and if you let go, it always goes one extra step in the direction you were swiping. Like.... up-up-let_go... and it goes up one more time on its own. With a reader as bright as the KA1, it should be possible to set a max brightness, and then have the slider use the entire range to set the light between 0 and the max brightness in one percent increments. |

BUT I have problems with some books (kepubs) - not all - that suddenly have a lot of white space at the bottom of the page, which they didn't have with the previous F/W. It might be a question of different patch parameters (I didn't write down what I used before), and I'll try to modify them. | |

Yet another release for the Kobo Aura One (mark 6) with absolutely nothing for over an year on other mark 6 and mark 5 hardware. People closer to Kobo then me keep pointing out for months now that the other devices will get an update a few months after the critical bug fixes for the KA1 go through, several more months down the line that is still not the case.

The first 4.2 works, the other two don't. I forget their .xxxx build numbers. I'm back to 3.19 myself. Waiting for official update for H2O. I only used newer firmwares in an attempt to make my screensaver/autoshelf mods compatible. It's not like there is any difference that actually matters when reading. That basically hasn't changed in any way since I bought the device. |

I had the same drop to 0% light thing last night while reading in a lit room. Fortunately, the battery life issue didn't show up.

I had the same issue with the light on Auto going to 0% but in version 4.2.8283. I since restored to factory settings and have not tried to look for that issue, but I will. |

For the last couple firmware versions, I've been having an issue where mounting and unmounting via USB would take a long time (sometimes very long). So far this update seems to have fixed this issue, I hope it won't come back.

For me, this firmware caused my computer to crash, for the first time in 20 years, where it *wasn't* a buggy display driver. This is just idiotic. The amount of problems I've had with this device with regard to USB-connectivity are unparalleled by anything I've owned before. |
