I seriously doubt this is done intentionally. You're seeing an unintended consequence of other changes.

Additionally are you certain all other aspects of your test are identical? Battery starting at the same level before going to sleep for instance? I doubt there is any guarantee that the battery level reporting is linear....

Nah, I'm just reading a book, and watching the battery percentage after X hours of reader sleep. It could be that the meter is not linear, not very accurate, or whatever. I'm only saying that on first sight, I see a slightly larer power drain with 8283 than I did with 8110 when the reader is asleep.

Odd--I am seeing exactly the opposite. My battery seems to be draining much more slowly on 4.2.8283 than it did on 4.2.8110. I am seeing a 1% drop overnight, where before I would see a 2-3% drop. Also, the battery doesn't drop as quickly while I am reading as it did before. For me, 4.2.8283 is a definite improvement over 4.2.8110.

The Wiki entry is not showing the H2O as discontinued. It's showing that the

It's more likely that Japan had an oversupply that is still being sold. I doubt any have been made since before October.

And exactly this is why Wikipedia will never be accepted in scientific circles, even though Brittanica has said that Wikipedia didn't contain more (or less) mistakes than their own encyclopedia, with regard to the articles they checked.

The problem with Wikipedia is that something which is there today, may be gone tomorrow. (Or, you point out something is incorrect, and after someone else checks it, it suddenly is correct; or the other way around.)

And you can follow the change histories which can number in the tens of thousands for some pages.

There are other syncs happening at other times. When you open a purchased kepub, it syncs the reading status in case you have read the book on another device. I don't think I've noticed a sync after a restart except when upgrading firmware. As the sync is stopped when the firmware is downloaded and installed, an entry is added to the config file to indicate a sync should be done. This is mainly for the daily auto-sync so that if an upgrade happens in the middle of the night, the sync is done ready for the next day.

Got it. Still, now everytime it's connected to the WIFI, it's trying to sync, and since I replaced all the URLs to prevent just that, it's kind of in a loop trying to sync and draining the battery. Any way to prevent that? Where can I find this entry and remove it? It not, could someone post the URLs at the bottom of their config file so it syncs once and leave it alone after?

Just delete the section from the config file and restart the device. It should add again. If it doesn't, delete the whole file and it will recreate the file.
