I know far less than KNC1, but to *directly* answer some of your questions, in case you can't get this info from the instrucs pointed at: yes, the latest version is fine (per what KNC1 already said). And NO, MRPI doesn't do the install of amazon software. For that, you use the kindle menu item. If it is greyed out, then you've put the install package in the wrong place.

This might be the question for me as well.
I haven't installed any firmware to my PW2 in the last 1.5 year for sure. I followed this:

PW-2 users running firmware 5.4.4.2 or older, go directly to:
PW-2 Early firmware versions, jail break

I normally use my Linux laptop (Ubuntu 14.04.5)
If needed can use a windows machine.

Little help needed, I want to update PW2 to latest official firmware:

I have Kindle PW2 with 5.4.5.1 firmware. I jailbreaked device 2-3 years ago, don't know which version of jailbreak used.
So, if I am correct:
1. first update jailbreak with Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install
2. update to last official firmware
3. reinstall all hacks i want to use through MobileRead Package Installer

Sounds like a plan.
There are a couple of details which I do not know if you intentional didn't list.
1) Recommended.
Your old one would preserve the jail break, but a lot of additional features and improvements have been made since then.
Plus, the requirements of the 5.4.x firmware series and the 5.8.x firmware series are much different.
Use the link supplied in Step #6 of the current jail break (which I think you did, but .... ).

2) One point, that is no longer a one way trip.
If you don't like it, you can use the current multi-device directions to start over, and next time update to a version you like, rather than most recent.
Follow the instructions of Step #7 of the current jail break to perform this #2.

2.5) Install both KUAL and MrPI.
Read and follow Step #8 of the current jailbreak instructions.

3) Now install anything that broke in the process.
MrPI is a 'batch mode' installer -
Dump all desired mr add-ins packaged in update_*.bin format files into /mrpackages at the same time.
Trigger MrPI with its menu entry in KUAL.

Only thing I do is applying Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install, and decide to ask things from post above.

I just tried JailBreak-1.14.N-FW-5.x-hotfix.zip from step 6 but Update Your Kindle is greyed out (kindle delete that file). Is this mean that i must reset PW2 - go to original 5.4.3.2 and do all steps?

Do not reset your Kindle.

Try installing it with MrPI.

im trying to Jailbreak my kindle PW3(G090 G105), to read EPUB on it.

I have downgraded to 5.7.4 and run the main-htmlviewer.tar ;installHtml and it seem to run, but when i try to install the Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.14.N_install, it comes with ERROR 007, i have to say the "you are now jailbraked" don't show
what am i doing wrong?
The Device info on the kindle reads FW Kindle 5.7.4

Nope - just right, your good until Amazon comes up with something new to cause us trouble.

That 'Begin Grayed Installer' should probably be removed from KUAL menu.
It is a left-over from years ago.
It attempts to over-ride the 'model locking' which can cause more trouble than it solves.

8,000+ downloads (since last update) of the two supporting files required.

I know I remember. I was there.
Though for my purposes the extra 0 was no big deal. It just means it is <1% rather than slightly > 1%. I think I got those symbols correct.
